All three schools crowded into the great hall, eager to find out the champions of each school.
I was suddenly angry at Fred. He'd actually tried to put his name in the goblet. I obviously knew it wouldn't work; he, however, didn't. He was fully intending to enter a huge wizarding competition where people die and didn't mind at all. What an idiot.
'The first champion is...' Dumbledore started as a red flame sparked from the goblet and a piece of paper flew out, landing elegantly in his hands. 'Viktor Krum!'
Loud cheers erupted from Durmstrang as the boy who I'd seen on the first day stood up confidently. Viktor... huh.
'The second Triwizard champion is... Fleur Delacour!'
Gracious clapping could be heard from beauxbatons as a beautiful blonde girl stood, smiling delightedly, joining Viktor in the centre of the hall.
'The Hogwarts champion, Cedric Diggory!'
My heart dropped. Cedric. Cedric was entering this competition?
The inhumanly attractive boy that had made Fred appear almost jealous stood up, grinning gleefully to join the other champions. My eyes trailed to Fred and he was seemingly shuffling uncomfortably.
The three champions were happily applauded by the students who filled the hall, apparently no one else realised how deadly these games really were.
As Dumbledore revealed the Triwizard cup, the blue flame above the goblet changed again to red, spitting furiously. Another name flew out of the cup into Dumbledore's hand. The entire hall was filled with silence as Dumbledore read the name.
'Harry Potter!'
A gasp escaped my lips, the first sound that had been made since it was read, followed by numerous mutters.
'Harry Potter?' Dumbledore said, louder this time.
'Harry, go!' I whispered, shoving him forward.
He stumbled into the middle of the hall, joining the three champions. A look of confusion on everyone's face, especially Harry's.
'Did you know about this?!' I whispered angrily to Ron.
'He didn't tell me, what kind of person doesn't tell their best friend that they've only entered the biggest wizarding competition in the world?' He looked furious.
This wasn't good. Harry would never enter himself into a competition this deadly. Even if he did, he would have at least told me or Ron. Something strange was happening and I didn't like it at all.
I watched as a few of the worried-looking professors hurried the four champions out of the great hall, leaving the remaining people in possibly panicked, possibly excited whispers.
'Hey, Granger,' I felt someone nudge my shoulder and turned around to face them. Draco.
'How did someone as utterly pathetic as Potter manage to sneak his name into the cup?' He looked rather irritated that he hadn't managed to do it himself.
'You really think he wanted this? And why are you so jealous about it? You've really dodged a bullet this time,' I glared before turning back to Ron.
'The idiot didn't even tell you?,' Malfoy grinned.
'He didn't do it,' I stated.
'That's what he told you is it? Granger, has it ever occurred to you that people lie?' he smirked and walked away.
'Ugh I hate him,' I said, frustrated that his words actually made sense.
'Made a good point though,' Ron shrugged.
'Oh stop it Ron. Let's just talk to Harry later and see if he did it or not,' Ginny smiled, holding my hand and squeezing it for reassurance.
