It was the morning of the third trial, I think I was more stressed than Harry which was utterly ridiculous when I wasn't even the one participating.

"You've been practicing the spells?" I asked for reassurance.

"Yes 'Mione, I've got it, okay?" Harry sighed.

"I'm sorry. You'll be great," I smiled, "I'm going to the library."

I walked briskly out of the common room, nerves boiling up inside of me. I felt my shoulder slam into someone's.

"For God's sake, will you look where you're going- oh," I stopped myself, "Fred, sorry."

"Somebody's having a bad day," Fred teased.

"I really don't have time for this today," I sighed, brushing past him.

"Hey hey hey, no, time for what? What did I do?" he looked at me, concerned.

"I don't need you to mock me or charm me or just be you, my best friend is in danger, it's the final trial today, I don't need you making me feel things," I released a long breath. "I can't handle it, not today."

"Okay." Fred stepped back. "I won't, not today," he echoed, walking away.

"I'm sorry," I mumbled although it was too late for him to hear it.

We arrived at the final trial, my shaky arm linked with Ginny's. I could tell she was just as on edge as I was, she'd had a crush on Harry for years after all. I squeezed her arm slightly for reassurance.

We were sat in the stands surrounding the maze, encompassed by a crowd of buzzing students. Ron joined us, arms full of snacks.

"You can't be serious," I scoffed, "this is most definitely not the time for eating, Ronald."

"Ever heard of stress eating?" he grinned, shoving more food in his mouth.

I rolled my eyes, catching sight of Fred watching me from a few rows in front, his head snapped away in a failed attempt to be subtle.

"I'm hoping you saw that," Ginny smirked.

My cheeks burned red. "Miss Weasley, I am not your pre-trial entertainment," I giggled.

Dumbledore began introducing the champions, before Harry, Cedric, Viktor and Fleur disappeared into the maze. Despite all of the bonding I had done with Viktor, I wasn't worried for him. He seemed fearless and strong and he didn't need me to worry for him, he could handle himself.
