Later that evening, I was sat in the common room, which was only getting less crowded as some students began going up to the dorms. My transfiguration homework was laid out in front of me but my mind was drifting and I started subconsciously doodling on my hand, afterwards realising that I'd left "Weasley" inked onto my wrist.
"Hey, Granger," George grinned, startling me and causing me to pull on my sleeve to cover the embarrassing writing that I'd left there.
"Oh, hi," I smiled awkwardly.
"What's that you're hiding?" he smirked slightly as he nodded towards my hand.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I replied, immediately realising that that was something you'd say if you had every clue as to what someone was talking about.
"So, how long have you had this little crush on me for then, Granger?" George teased.
I rolled my eyes.
"Oh you've got it all wrong," I replied, "Ginny wrote that earlier and besides, I like someone else."
I felt a wave of instant regret after saying that last part as his grin broadened and he got up to leave.
"Don't think you can hide things from me so easily, I think you underestimate my ability. I'll figure out who it is soon enough," he said, disappearing up the stairs.
I decided to ignore his pathetic attempt to embarrass me and let myself be distracted from it whilst I focused on the homework I'd started far too long ago.
Why was it that my head was so consumed with thoughts of Fred that I couldn't even focus on the one thing I'm good at, homework!
I finished up with what I was doing and went up to the dorms. Maybe all I need is a good sleep to stop myself from spiralling into insanity over some boy.
