She sinks into the shadows and tries to blend in
It's not to hard for her, it's never been
She's always looked past
She's always picked last
She cries herself to sleep at night
Tells herself to fight with all her might
When you looked into her eyes
I saw her chin tremble; she was trying not to tear off her disguise
Tears threaten to spill out
After a century-long drought
She tells herself she'll be okay
She won't let her perseverant spirits sway
So strong in so many ways
But it might not be enough to get her through this tough phase
She walks in the busy hallways with her head down
Her lips twist into a comfortable frown
A familiar face that no one knows
They know her but they don't know her, this they chose
She walks around like a floating ghost
Ignored and invisible to most
Her silent screams are heard by none
And she tells herself she's absolutely done
She's prepared to leave, prepared to say goodbyes
Although she has no one to say farewell to before she dies
But then you came crashing into her life
Right before she brought her heart to the knife
You saved her just in the nick of time
You saved her from falling from the tall climb
Picked her up and made her smile
I know you're the one that will walk her down the aisle
Because you genuinely care
Something so extremely rare
