AUTHOR’S NOTE: Okay, so this is probably going to be the prologue to a story. It’s based loosely on the Greek myth of the Queen of the Underworld, and how Hades kidnapped Kore/Persephone and tried to force her to be his Queen. I love what the pomegranate seeds symbolize, so I decided to use them as a sparking point for a story. Even by my standards this is pretty short for a prologue, but I didn’t want to force it, and this just seemed the right length. Oh, and it’s dedicated to M (WingCommander) because she kept on asking me to upload something that wasn’t fan fiction.
DISCLAIMER: I’m not sure whether I need a disclaimer, considering no one really owns ancient myths, and I’m not even using the same characters, just the symbolism of the pomegranate seeds. But I thought I’d put one in anyway.
I must resist the temptation. I cannot possibly allow myself to return to the abysmal black hole that once engulfed my life. That part, at least, is over, but it has left scars on my soul that will never fade, opened wounds that will never heal.
It hovers in my mind, like a menacing, overhanging cloud; an inerasable memory. I will never forget it. And if I can never forget it, then I can never look to the future. It will torment me forever, a nameless shadow haunting my every step. It will dominate my every waking moment till the day I die.
If I could rewind time and do my every action again, then I would. But I cannot. It will remain imprinted upon my mind for all eternity, to serve as an unwanted reminder of my foolery. To remind me, and to warn others. Because there are no second chances. Not where I come from.
