>Another picture of Callum to the right, isn't he yummy!<
Demi waited for Callum to get out of his sesson. The same pained expression sat on her face the whole time. She didn't move from the spot she was standing in. She felt numb. She felt lost.
She wasn't dead. She couldn't be dead. Mothers weren't suppose to die at 39, mothers were supposed to go to all your parents/teacher evenings, all your school plays and concerts, they were meant to see you off at your prom and cry at your wedding and help with their Grandchildren. So she couldn't be gone.
"It's not fair...." Demi whispered, tears stinging her eyes but not falling. Her head flinched as she heard the therapy door open.
Callum emerged from the room with the same vacant expression he always had after therapy sessions. He looked up to see Demi, just standing there. "Dee?.." he said confused and ran over to her wrapping his arms around her. "Whats the matter Dee?.." he whispered into her hair kissing her head. Demi took in a shaky breath and looked up to him. She bit her trembling lip. "She's gone isn't she?.." she whispered and let the tears roll down her cheeks. "She's gone.." she repeated louder and her soft tears became more heavy, staining her cheeks. She whimpered quietly and scrunched her eyes up as she cried. "She's gone.." she sobed and buried her head in Callum's chest. Callum held her tighter and and kissed her head again and again. "Shhhhh.." he whispered to her.
"Whats going on?.." Mrs. Geter asked emerging from her office. She stopped by the door and stayed there, watching the scene infront of her.
Demi's sobs grew louder. Callum bit his lip, it hurt him to see her like this. "It's okay, Dee, It's okay.." he said in comfort. Demi snapped her head up and pulled away from him harshly."It's not okay!..." she said loudly, inbetween her crying. "NOTHINGS OKAY." she yelled at him. "IT'S NOT OKAY BECAUSE... because...It's MY FAULT that she's DEAD..." she screeched at him in anguish. "MY fault..." she repeated. "I killed her.." she said choking on her tears. "She just stopped, she dropped her phone and just stopped..." Demi said repeating the words the lorry driver had said.
"I told her that i hated her..." she whispered, tears still on a constant flow. "and she just stopped.." she finished.
"I killed her.." she said and fell to the floor, sobbing, broken with emotion.
Callum suddenly ran from Helen office, away from Demi.
Callum scrunched up his hands and bit his lip hard. He had no idea, she felt this way. He didn't know that she blamed herself. He was so angry at himself for not seeing it. He gritted his teeth and let out an angry yell as he punched his locker again and again and again. He soon stopped and sighed leaning his head against his locker. She was so fragile and all he wanted to do was hold her and never let go. But he was afraid that she was angry at him. He sighed and steadied his breath, clearing his head. He stood up straight and walked off back to the Mrs. Geter's office. Demi was not there when he got back. He knocked on Mrs. Geter's office and walked in. "Where's Demi...?" he demanded. Mrs. Geter widened her eyes, "A little more than acquaintances i see?..," she commented. Callum looked at her angrily and confused. How could she be so flippant at a time like this? He turned away to go and find out himself when he was stopped by her words. "She's been sent home. Her father came to pick her up..." she said neutrally. Callum nodded his head and walked out of the office and out of the school. He was going to see her.
Demi lay on her bed, looking up at the ceiling. She had pictures of her and Callum up there, the twins and the drawing Callum had given her when they'd first actually hung out. She focused on a picture of Callum and herself. His father had taken it. They were laying on the grass, hand in hand, looking up at the sky. They did this most days when it as sunny, but this picture was special because it was Callum's birthday, and that was the day he had kissed her. Only a soft and quick peck on the lips, ut he had still kissed her. She supressed a soft sigh and smiled weakly. She rubbed her eyes, that were red raw from crying and turned onto her side, her back to the door to try and get some sleep. She missed her mother so much and she felt so guilty. It should be her up there instead. She deserved to die for what she had done. She was a cruel heartless bitch. Demi scrunched up her face to stop the tears from falling again. Demi really did hate herself for killing her mother, she didn't know how she could carry on with that thought in her head. Demi sighed and closed her eyes trying to sleep, maybe she'd have a fresh view after some much needed seep.
Demi was riddled with nightmares. Worse than the ones she used to get before. She was standing on the grassy bit beside a busy road. Cars were coming and going as usual. Demi was confused as to why her mind had brought her here, until she saw the her mothers red honda. She watched the scene before her. Her mother was bickering with someone. Demi swallowed, she was arguing with Demi. It was that day. Demi shook her head. "LET ME OUT OF HERE...I DON'T WANT TO SEE IT!.." she yelled, but she didn't move, she just stayed where she was. Demi whimpered as she watched her mother arguing and then saw her face drop as Demi said those words "I hate you...". The words rang around everywhere but Demi was watching her mother. She saw her mother frown with disbelief before dropping her phone and the car coming to a haut. Demi looked up and saw the lorry man. His eyes huge with fear. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" she screamed and tried to run forward to her mother, but the lorry plowed into her car and then everything went black.
"It's all your fault.." a cruel voice said maliciously.
"YOU killed her!..." it added, the words echoed.
"It should have been you..." it spat.
Those words were echoed and repeated by the wicked voice. Demi was now floating, or well falling, at an alarming rate, down and down. Was she going to hell? Demi cupped her hands over her ears to shut out to malevolent voice before she gasped and realised. It was her voice. She was attacking herself. Demi plummetted to what seemed like certain and death and the only thing she concluded was that, the voice was right. It was all her fault, and it should have been her.
Demi woke up instantly. Sitting up and looking forward numbly, she took quick, short breaths in trying to calm herself down. That sleep had done nothing. Only made her feel worse. Demi slowly got out of bed, her clock told her it was only 3 pm. She knelt down beside her bed and lifted up her mattress. She got a picture out and looked at it. It was her mother and herself. The were smiling happily as her father took the picture. Demi stifled a cry and bit her lip hard, causing it to bleed. "It's all my fault..." she whispered and put the photo down. She picked up her phone and typed a message, to Callum.
"I'm sorry Cal, i love you." was all it said. She then set her phone down and walked into her mother and fathers bedroom, going into their bathroom. She walked up to the cabinet beside the sink and opened it. She took out all the pills she could find and ran the water of the tap. Grabbing a cup from the window sill, that her father always left there, she filled it with water. She lay all the pills out onto the sufrace of the sink, and grabed a handful.
She took in a sharp breath and looked up to the mirror. "It's all my fault..." she whispered and shoved the pills in her mouth and glugged at the water until she'd swallowed them all. She did this many times until nearly all the pills were gone.
Her eye lids had become extremely heavy and her stomach was aching. She dropped the glass as her stomach cramped unbearably. She fell to the floor and groaned in pain, tears again falling. She started to pant, to try and supress the pain. She pushed down on her stomach and screamed out in pain, She saw two feet by the door frame and cried harder. "No...I want to die...i want to die..." she said as the person fell down beside her and dragged her into their arms. "I want to die...." she said and again and again until it was only a whisper on her lips and she passed out.
Callum held her in his arms and cried. "No. no.no.no.no.." he kept saying holding Demi, rocking her. He held her until the ambulance came, and he stayed by her side until they arrived at the hospital. He wouldn't let anyone touch her,not even her own father. "Wake up Demi..." he kept whispering "i love you...".
