>Picture of little Rory Riley, to the right<
Demi stood outside the paediatric ward, her face pressed up against the door. Tear tracks marked her cheeks and her eyes were rimmed black with smudged mascara. She felt a hand on her shoulder and spun round to see concerned eyes looking into hers.
"Babe...Go in.." Callum said softly gesturing to the door. He looked through the window and saw Rory laying in a bed, 3 up from the end and on the left. He looked quite content with a Doctor and nurse standing beside his bed, as Demi's dad, arm in a sling, and little Poppy, scratched up, sat the other side. Callum gazed back to Demi who was again staring at them through the window.
"I'm scared.." she whispered. Demi was terrified actually. She didn't want to see her little brother in pain. She didn't want another car crash to invade her life.
She hadn't even got to say goodbye to her mother when she died. She was announced Dead On Arrival.
"Demi!...Baby!.." Callum said loudly snapping Demi out of her train of thoughts. She turned to look at him and was enveloped into a hug. She felt Callum stroke her head and wrapped her arms around his waist holding onto him tightly.
"Go in...everythings fine..." he whispered softly and let her go, only to take hold of her hand and lace his fingers with hers. He smiled to her softly which gave Demi the strength to go in.
She pushed the doors open slowly and walked quickly down to Rory's bed.
Demi's dad snapped up and he stood up meeting Demi in the middle. He wrapped his one good arm around himself and hugged her.
"He's fine sweetie...A dislocated collerbone and a broken arm...plus we think his ankles sprained..But thats it..nothing too serious.." he said softly kissing her head.
Demi nodded quietly and looked to Rory who sat up in bed with a painful smile on his face.
"The doctors and nurses gave me magic medicine!" Rory said to Demi happily. He seemed to not be shaken up by the accident at all. He was acting like if he'd scraped his knee. Demi guessed it was because he was too young to understand the seriousness of a car crash, and what effect that had on Demi.
Demi smiled weakly "Thats great Ror! Is your arm hurting a lot?.." she asked softly going to sit down in the free chair.
"It was at first...But it's okay now! just aching.." he said quietly.
Poppy jumped up for her chair and climbed onto Demi's lap and into her arms. She kissed her cheek and smiled to Demi.
"Rory's so brave DemDem, he only cried a little bit, Daddy cried more.." she whispered softly and innocently. Demi nodded and held Poppy close.
"You both sound very brave Poppy, i'm glad you're okay.." she said quietly.
Callum had moved to stand behind Demi. He knelt behind the chair and put his hands on her shoulders. It was amazing for Demi to have Callum with her, supporting her, helping her, loving her.
After a few hours Demi's had to go home. Only one person was allowed to stay with Rory, and Dad was that person. They'd allowed Poppy to stay as well, because she was only little and Poppy and Rory were inseparable. Callum opted to take Demi home.

Whilst Demi waited for Callum to unlock his front door she thought back to the hospital. She needed to write in her book immediately. This needed to be written down so that she could not obsessively think about it until it drove her crazy.
