>Random Picture of Mark the Paramedic (; to the right<
Callum sat beside Demi in the ambulance. "Oh god. Oh God.." he kept saying looking down at an unconscious Demi. He bit his trembling lip, trying to calm down from the shock he was in. He grabbed hold of her limp hand and held it tightly as he tried to stop tears from falling. He was going to loose her. He was going to loose her before he'd even told her about his feelings officially. But she'd said she loved him? Oh God he was going to loose her. He pushed aside the negative thoughts and with his free hand thumbled in his pocket for his phone. Once he'd got it out, he looked for Demi's dad's number. He held the phone up to his ear, with his trembling hand and pressed the call button.
"Mr. Riley...D-Don't panick, she's, I'm with her...She...She took some pills, a-actually a-alot of pills and now...she's going to the hospital..I c-called an ambulance. Y-yes, St. Johns..Okay.." he said frantically. His voice kept shaking from the shock and he just couldn't get the image of Demi lying on the floor crying out that she wanted to die, out of his head. It had broken his heart to see her like that.
A paramedic pushed past Callum in the back of the ambulance. "'Scuse me son.." he said and stood over Demi checking her vitals. He put a breathing mask onto her face to help her breath and put in a temporary drip. He put his fingers against her neck and looked at his watch to check her pulse.
"Hey! Don't touch her!..W-what are you doing?.." Callum demanded still tightly holding Demi's hand. The paramedic looked towards Callum. "Look. Son. I can tell you care for this young lady a lot but if you don't let me do my job, theres a good chance she'll die, and we don't want that now do we?.." the paramedic said and turned back around. Callum swallowed the lump in his throat. That was a bit brash of the paramedic, being so blunt to him, but if he was going to save Demi's life Callum didn't care. Callum looked up to Demi's face, The paramedic was shining a light into her eyes, as far as Callum could tell, she was pretty unresponsive but ehat did he know? "Come on Dee.." he whispered "Do it for me...Stay alive for me.." he said staring at her intensely.
"Hey, Soph...Step on it please? She's going to have to go to ICU asap.." the paramedic in the back said to the one driving. "Okay Mark!.." the driving paramedic called back. Callum started to panic. What did he mean ICU asap? Was she that bad? Callum started to panic and held onto Demi's hand even more, his breathing uneven. The paramedic in the back with him, Mark was it? Turned around to look at Callum. He knelt down infront of him. "Okay, son, whats your name?.." he asked. Callum looked over to him, his eyes wide with fear. "C-callum.." he whispered. Mark nodded and smiled softly "Okay Callum, i need you to take deep, slow breaths for me? Can you do that? In and out, yes, good, okay, now listen very carefully. I need you to be calm and not freak out too much, be calm for Demi, she's not going to need a panicked boyfriend is she?..Demi, is very sick right now, and need a calm environment...Do you understand?.." Mark asked Callum. Callum nodded and carried on breathing deeply and slowly. Calm, he needed to be calm for Demi. His eyes flicked over to her face again. Her took in her beautiful features. He'd never be happy again if he couldn't see those electric blue eyes again, or the dimples she got when he made her smile. He bit his lip "Please Demi, please wake up.." he whispered quietly with all his heart.
Callum heard the familiar sound of the ambulance radio go off. "Ambulance 2, can you hear me ambulance 2?.." a crackled voice said from the hand radio. "Yes, we copy you, We've got a serious overdose coming in to St. Johns, we need a bed in ICU straight away.." the driving paramedic said back. The crackled voice confirmed a free bed and let the paramedics know of the next incident they needed to get to.
"H-how far away are we?.." callum asked Mark the paramdeic anxiously. "About 5 minutes Callum, not long now, then we'll get her into ICU and the let the doctors see to her..." he said with a reassuring smile. That smile put Callum at a slight ease. "Can i s-stay with her there?..." Callum asked quietly, not sure whether he could even let go of her hand. "You'll have to wait outside until she's stable and then you can go in.." Mark replied busily, keeping an eye of Demi's pulse.
The ambulance pulled to hault 3 minutes later and the back doors flung open. People grabbed the trolley Demi was on and pulled it out of the ambulance. Callum leaped out with it and kept hold of Demi's hand, runnin alongside her, as she was wheeled into the hospital. Once inside two doctors ran up to her shouting instructions to, what Callum concluded were nurses. The tall male doctor looked to Callum and started speaking to him, but callum couldn't hear anything he was saying, as he was too overwhelmed by everything. A nurse shook him to attention and the male doctor repeated what he had been saying. "Hello, look, erm, we're going to have to take her up to ICU now, thats on the third floor, there's a waiting room up there, if you want to wait there, when she's stable, we'll let you come back to her side..." the doctor said in a friendly manner. Callum nodded and let go of her hand "HER NAMES DEMI!.." he shouted to them as they wheeled her to a lift.
Callum shoved his hands nervously through his hair, turning around in circle not sure what to do. He eyes found a coffee machine, so he went over and got a coffee before walking up to the front desk. "If as m-man comes in..Mr. R-riley, can you tell him Demi's up on the third floor, and Callum is with her...T-tell him to go to the waiting room..." he asked the receptionist, who kindly agreed to pass on the information. Callum made his way up to the third floor waiting room, to wait for the news of whether they could stablise Demi.

Scott Riley, raced down the road in his car. He'd dropped the twins off at Aaron(young)'s. He'd only gone out to the shops to get some things for Demi and groceries and when he'd gotten back, the front door had been flung open and Demi wasn't in her bed. When he'd received Callums call, he raced to his bathroom to see the reminants of the medicine cabinet on the floor. His heart had dropped to his stomach, and now he was racing toward St. John's hospital.
His heart was beating against his ribcage at an alarming rate, as he raced to get to his daughter. He couldsn't lose her. Not after he'd lost his beloved wife. His hands were trembling against the steering wheel and his teeth chattering from fear. Why had she done it? Why had she tried to take her life. If she'd have just spoken to him about how she was feeling he could have protected her. He stifled a cry and tried to keep his head clear, he needed to get to the hospital.
Only Callum was there with her, how scared he must be aswell, Scott knew how much Callum cared for Demi, he knew that they cared deeply about each other, so he knew how Callum would be feeling.
Scott pulled into the hospital car park and grabbed one of the few spaces left. He jumped out of the car and locked it before running into the hospital and up to the front desk. "My daughter! Demi Riley, she was brought in here, a young boy was with her..W-where is she?!.." he asked frantically. The receptionist smiled softly and directed him upstairs to the third floor, she informed him the young boy was already up their waiting.
Scott ran over to the floor guide.Third floor, ICU.
Shit.
Demi was in the ICU, how bad was she? This only made him more anxious as he caught the next lift up. He pressed the third floor button several times and then stood back waiting. He was frantically turned his wedding ring around his finger whilst he was waiting, his foot tapping on the floor constantly. The moment the doors opened he bounded out and walked swiftly down the corridor looking for the waiting room. He threw the doors open and looked around, finding Callum pacing down the far end of the room.
"Callum!.." he called out walking over. Callum looked over to him instantly and stopped pacing. "Mr. Riley!...I..She...They're trying to stabilise her.." he said with a shaky voice. Scott looked to him and tried to smile "It'll be okay, Callum, she'll pull through...It'll be okay.." he said sitting himself and Callum down and putting on a brave face for Callum. "It'll be okay..." he said quietly, staring at the doors of the waiting room, praying for good news.
