I felt good. I felt like I put an end to a never ending situation, hopefully. My knuckles hurt pretty bad though. I'm proud of myself too, I stood up for myself. I hope I wasn't being dramatic.
"That was new" I said back to Molly.
"Yeah, but it was awesome!" She cheered.
I felt bad. I wasn't setting a very good example for my little sister, was I? Or maybe I was. Maybe I should've done this a lot longer ago.
"Well, are you gonna take your turn?" I asked, wanting to change the subject.
We finished up the game of mini golf. I didn't win, shocking. Clayton still hadn't called. So we decided on finding a place to get ice cream. At this point, I didn't know if I wanted the ice cream to eat or for my knuckle.
As we ordered our ice cream, Clayton called and said we could head back, that he was ready to go. So we got our ice cream and ate on the drive back.
"Are you gonna tell him?" Molly asked.
I didn't think about that, but it's not like I was obligated to tell him. If I was obligated to tell anyone, it'd be Mike. He doesn't tell me anything, so why should I tell him anything?
"I don't know" I finally answered. I probably wouldn't bring it up, I don't think I was comfortable bringing it up.
"By the way, you shouldn't be swearing at 13, young lady"Molly just smirked and looked out the window.
We pulled up back at the house we parted with Clayton. He was outside talking to the guy that I had him come get out of the bar. Was this his house? Skibs is what Clayton called him. Clayton approached the car with "Skibs".
"Skibs, this is my friend Ryan and her sister Molly. Ryan, Molly, this is Skibs." Clayton smiled. Skibs didn't look very friendly. Molly waved.
"You're the girl from the bar. I was at the casino the other night saw your picture on the wall. Big winnings huh?" Skibs said, completely monotone. I just nodded and gave a fake smile.
"I gotta get going, see ya man." Clayton said, opening the door so he could drive. I got out and he got in. I started making my way to the other side when Skibs whispered "karma" as I walked passed. Karma? For what? Doing my job? What a joke. I got back into the passenger side, "so, where too?"
He smiled, "Still not telling."
Me & Molly both groaned, but accepted the fact that he wasn't going to tell us.After another hour and a half of driving and talking and laughing, Clayton said "We'll be there in two minutes." Molly clapped with excitement. I had no idea where we were. I trusted Clayton though.
Two minutes later we pulled into a big parking lot, filled with cars. I searched for a business sign or something. But I didn't find one, we on the bottom level of a parking garage.
We ended up on the third floor of the parking garage, I had yet to find a name. We didn't bother asking where we were, because we'd find out soon enough.
"Alright, lets go ladies" Clayton said, getting out of the car."Molly & I followed. After a few minutes of walking, we were about to go in the door. Clayton opened the door for us and we entered. I finally found a name for the place. It wasn't very helpful, it was called "In Town Event Hall". Which means many events could be going on in here, especially with five floors. I found a schedule, and looked at every floor that matched the closest time.
Floor One, 2pm: The Great Indoor Circus
Floor Two, 2pm: Magic Joe's Magic Show
Floor Three, 2:15pm: Beauty & The Beast Marathon
Floor Four, 2:15pm: Indoor Petting Zoo
Floor Five, 2:30pm: Local Fashion ShowClayton doesn't strike as a Fashion Show go-er, so that left four other possibilities.
"These all sound fun, which one are we going too?" Molly said, extremely excited.
Clayton looked at her and smiled, "which one do you want it to be?"Mollys face light up, "the circus!"
"The circus it is." Clayton smiled.
I smiled. He was so nice, I liked seeing Molly smile.
Clayton bought 3 tickets to the circus, and refused to let me pay for mine and Molly's tickets. We were a few minutes early, so Molly asked to get some popcorn. So I gave her some money and sent her on her way.
"Thanks for being so sweet to Molly, I appreciate it." I smiled.
"Don't thank me, she's a good kid." Clayton smiled.I smiled, what a sweetheart.
Molly returned a few minutes later, and a few minutes after that, the circus began.
I kept checking Molly's face, she was enjoying herself and it made me happy. She really did deserve to be happy, and have fun. I noticed Clayton kept looking at me and Molly smiling. I'm glad I had Molly and Clayton in my life.
3 hours later, the circus ended. Molly kept thanking Clayton. We decided to stop for dinner on the way home, Molly wanted to pay and she wouldn't take no for an answer.
On our way home we stopped at a Chinese buffet, Mollys choice. It was a good choice if you ask me. I couldn't stop looking at Clayton. He was so charming and sweet.
We ate and ate until we couldn't eat anymore. Molly had to go to the bathroom before we left, so we waited for her in Claytons car. "Thank you for today." I smiled.
"Don't thank me, I had fun." He smiled back. I never noticed how cute his smile was.
"Molly really likes you" I added.
"Really? I wouldn't have guessed" he chuckled. "She's a great kid, I'm glad she likes you." He smiled.
As if she knew we were talking about her, she hopped in the car.
We drove home.
We pulled up in front of our house. Instead of saying an innocent goodbye, I let out a "what the fuck".
Molly and Clayton looked at me. I pointed to the front door, that was wide open.
We all rushed inside to look for anything that could show evidence of a break in. Nothing was broken or damaged. I ran to were I hid my money, in the bathroom closet. I pulled the envelope of the roof of the closet and opened it.
There was no money inside, just a note that said "karma"
I fell to the floor in disbelief.
