Chapter 20- Anticipation

((Lapis' POV))

(It's Friday at the end of the school day btw)

I couldn't keep my eyes off the clock. It was the last class of the day and there was only a mere 3 hours until my date with Peridot. I felt happier than I usually do. I'm usually that quiet girl in the back of the room, but not today. Today I'm sitting up straight (lol) and focusing more the I ever have. Tapping my foot in anxiety and twiddling with my fingers.

After more waiting, the bell finally rang. I nearly jumped out of my chair and ran out to my locker. I packed up my stuff and headed for the door to get on the bus.

I climbed up the bus stairs and saw that Peridot wasn't there yet. I sat in our usual seat near the back and waited. When she finally arrived, I smiled at her. She instantly smiled back.

"You ready for tonight?" I ask, still smiling.

"I can't wait to see where we're going!" Peri responded excitedly. I laugh and lay my head on her shoulder. I looked up and saw her blushing. She placed her hand on my hair and strokes it like you would to a cat.

"What's up with you and my shoulder Lazuli?" She giggled.

"It's not just your shoulder that I love..." I said, almost teasingly.

"Oh yeah?"

"I love all of you, silly!" I said, lifting my head up and kissing her cheek.

"I know, I know. I am pretty great aren't I?" Peri said laughing.

"Yes, yes you are," I said while resting my head back on her shoulder.

When we got to our stop, I hopped off the bus and Peridot walked me to my house. Which is only two houses down from her own.

We stopped in front of my door and she leaned in and kissed me quickly.

"I'll see you at 5?" She said. Her adorable face looked into my eyes.

"Yes," I said wrapping my arms around her waist. "Make sure you're ready...we have to be there by 5:30, and it's quite a walk. I'll text you when I'm on my way to get you."

"Okay," she said, still gazing into my eyes. I leaned in and kissed her once more before waking into my house.
