I sat awake, the sunlight streaming peacefully through the panoramic window. I was the only one awake, and I decided against waking the others just yet. They would need their sleep, it’s a long trip. They were quite far off, considering I’ve been traveling away from it and they came from the same general direction that I did. I sat thinking over the events of last night, my eyes widening in realization. She wasn’t going to bite me. How could I have been so stupid as to not see the signs?! She was observing me, not threatening me. She took a shuffling step backwards, maybe not noticeably but still, right before she was beheaded. How could I honestly have been so stupid? Of course the walker wouldn’t have bitten me! Sure my mind blanked in fear and my fight or flight instincts took over but still, I should have been more observant. I should’ve seen the signs. But, everything did work out. I gained Liam’s trust and the four of them gained mine. Besides, maybe now they won’t ever find out my secret. Honestly, these four have definitely grown on me. And that alone scares me to no end. If they found out my secret, it would kill me. Literally. I was snapped from my thoughts by shuffling and automatically I thought of the possibility another walker got in here. My gaze snapped to where the sound was coming from and I snapped into a defensive position. My gaze softened when I saw it was just Harry waking up, and I quickly got into my original position. I sat and watched Harry, in a non-creepy way of course, and couldn’t help but smile fondly at the adorable boy. His already unruly curls were messier than usual, his cheeks tinged an adorable pink, and his lips were parted slightly into an adorable little pout. I smiled fondly as the curly haired lad sat up, rubbing his eyes with his closed fists. I almost cooed at the sight, he looked so much like a child and he was just too freaking cute. Then, he became even cuter when he stretched, pulling his arms above his head and revealing a small sliver of his smooth skin. A small smile was etched into his face and I couldn’t help but want to ‘aw’. What was this boy doing to me? Our eyes locked, a stunning emerald met cerulean, and pink dusted his cheeks. He quickly looked down, breaking eye contact and I smiled at the boy. I chuckled quietly and stood up, silently vowing that I would safely get these four to the ‘safe zone’ no matter what it took. Of course, it would be a long journey but it would be worth it. I slowly walked over to where Liam slept and poked him lightly with the butt of my gun to wake him up. Much to my dismay all he did was groan under his breath and roll over. I rolled my eyes and made a groaning noise, shuffling my feet back and forth to imitate a walker. I glanced at Harry and saw he was holding in a laugh. I winked and continued my actions, quickly poking Liam once again. I stepped back when he jumped up, eyes wide and alert. I couldn’t keep in my laugh, so I burst into a fit of hysterical laughter soon followed by Harry. I hadn’t laughed this hard in over 6 months. I heard an adorable spout of giggles and stopped laughing immediately to listen to the musical sound. I glanced at Harry and saw he was the source of the giggles. I smiled but it was soon erased when I was tackled to the floor by none other than Liam Whatever-his-last-name-is. I smirked up innocently at Liam and he growled, if this was a cartoon he would have smoke coming from his ears. We were snapped from our small staring contest by a pair of wolf whistles. My head snapped towards the sound and glanced at the couple questioningly.

“I didn’t know you were into that Liam!” Zayn called out then burst into a bout of laughs.

“I didn’t know you had a thing for blondes!” Louis then called after. I glanced at Harry to see him watching us with an emotionless expression, and I frowned in confusion. I looked at the position Liam and I were in then everything clicked. Liam’s face burned a bright red as he jumped off me and mumbled incoherent words under his breath. I could make out ‘not what it looked like’, ‘don’t like blondes’, and ‘straight’ in between all the mumbles. I laughed at how uncomfortable he looked, but then quickly put on a serious face.

“How do you know whether I like blokes or not?” I questioned, a harsh undertone in my voice. The couple quickly stopped laughing and looked at me like a pair of deer in a headlight. Shock was clear in their eyes and I had to keep myself from laughing.

“Well-l w-we d-don’t-t and-d w-e-ll we w-were j-joking. S-s-so-sorry-rry.” They spluttered, both trying to speak over the other. I raised my eyebrow and made sure not to let my smirk show. I glanced at Harry to see he wore a sad expression. I frowned and shot him a questioning look which he just shook off. I shook my head gazing at the couple whom looked at loss for words. I finally cracked, revealing a full blown smile. I began to laugh and they all looked at me with a mixture of confusion and shock in their eyes.

“Guys, relax. I really am gay, I was just messing with you. It was hilarious watching you two squirm.” I said, a huge smile on my face. “Oh, and Liam isn’t my type.” I added, winking.

They glared at me and I smiled back innocently in response.

“Good news lads!” Liam yelled, jumping between us “We are going to the safe zone! I found someone that actually knows where it is!”

“What?!!? That’s incredible! Who? How? When? Details Liam! Details!” Harry yelled in excitement and I smiled.

“Niall is taking us, he knows.”

And then everyone’s eyes were on me.
