I still didn’t trust them, but I wasn’t going to throw them out to the walkers. That would be cruel and I wasn’t that cruel.  It was now late, the sun had set an hour or so ago, and we were all setting up our make-shift beds. I sighed as I sat watching Harry lay on the floor without anything else but a hoodie for a pillow. My eyes darted between my sleeping bag and Harry lying on the floor several times before I sighed again.  I stood up, picking up my sleeping bag, and walked over to where he was laying. He looked up when he heard my footsteps and gave me a smile, confusion clouding his lovely emerald eyes. I smiled back and handed him my sleeping bag without a word. His eyes locked with mine and his eyebrows furrowed in confusion, but he must’ve seen it in my eyes that I wanted him to take it so he did. A grateful smile flitted onto his face. I smiled wider and walked back to my little area right across the door. I sat down, leaning against the window behind me and watched as Harry curled up into the sleeping bag, a small smile still on his face as his eyes twinkled in content. He was way too innocent for this new world we were living in. A small smile implanted itself onto my face as I slowly drifted off to sleep with the only warmth I had being the thin blanker I wrapped around myself and the hoodie I was wearing. Totally worth it though. I thought before sleep finally won and I fell into a light slumber.

I woke up to a groan and feet dragging across the wooden floors. My eyes shot open and I jumped up fast, drawing the walker’s attention from where it was previously focused on: Harry. My head spun and dark spots clouded my vision, I leaned against the window to steady myself only to be pushed roughly against it. My vision cleared up to see pinning me to a wall. She- at least I think it was once a she- pinned me to the wall by my shoulders. I quickly glanced to my right where my weapons lay, and concluded they were too far to reach especially with this one’s strength holding me to the wall. I was trapped, stuck, immobilized. I smelt the stench of her breath; a mixture of dead flesh, blood, and the smell of something rotting wafting from her open mouth. Her teeth were almost black, with spots of red, probably blood, in different stages of drying. A few strands of flesh hung from her lips, some stuck in between her breath. Dried blood covered the skin around her mouth, what little of the skin that was actually still there and intact anyways. Her eyes were glazed over, they had a clouded over. The whites of her eyes were a sick yellowish color and the –what seemed to used to be blue eyes- were now a dull grayish blackish color. Her skin was peeling from her muscles and bones in various places and I could see where she was originally bitten, where it had grown infected and started to peal. The whole left side of her jaw was missing skin and several rotting tendons, that were now black, kept the left side of the jaw connected to her face. She was missing hair in clumps, and the hair that was still on her scalp was dirty: full of twigs, grass, dirt, and even blood. Flies buzzed around her head, some just walking on her face without a care. Maggots crawled in her open wounds, and a couple resided in her mouth. I grimaced in disgust. My overall assessment mustve only taken a second because nothing had changed. She stepped forward, pressing me tighter against the glass. Her cold, horrid, breath hit my face and I tried moving farther away from her but got nowhere. As I struggled, she tightened her grip causing her long, black nails to dig deeper into the skin of my shoulders and I winced. I couldn’t scream for help in fear more walkers will find wherever this one came in and attack and I couldn’t move enough to ‘accidentally’ wake one of the boys or kick one of them awake because her grip was so tight. A low groan escaped her mouth and I closed my eyes, so this is how I die?

There was a thump and then the weight was lifted from my shoulders. I opened my eyes to see the walker’s headless body lying on the ground, her head rolling away quietly. I sighed in relief and looked up at my savior.

Liam?
