I cringed, grabbing my leg in slight pain- though I may or may not have played it up a little bit to see how they would react. I could see Liam curiously watching us, as well as Narry- though they looked slightly worried for my well being as well. I looked up at Zayn, watching as he watched me with utter worry- his hands held out in front of him like he wants to reach out to me, though he stood rooted in place. He looked so worried, I couldn’t do that to him- I couldn’t stand the look on his face. I smiled up brightly at him, reassuring him slightly. The rigidness melted away, leaving a confused smile on his features. I fixed my position, making sure I was perfectly balanced as to not fall over in the middle of what I was going to do. My right hand slid into my pocket, feeling the comforting velvet material caress the skin. I nodded my head in confirmation to myself, I really was going to do this- and I was going to do this now. I had the speech and everything ready, so why was I so nervous? My palms were sweating, heart hammering against my chest, lungs heaving- like I had just ran a marathon. I took one last deep breath before pulling out the velvet box, holding it out in front of me and locking eyes with a very shocked Zayn. I sent him another smile, and he shot me a heartwarming- though slightly watery- smile in return.

“Zayn Javadd Malik, we’ve been together for years and we’ve been friends for even longer. But, I’ve come to realize life is short, and anyone can be ripped away at any moment. And I want to make the most of the time we have together, I want to spend the rest of my life with you… and only you. You complete me, no matter how cheesy that is, and I couldn’t live without you. I can’t live without you. You make everything in this fucked up world okay, and I couldn’t ask for anyone better to spend the rest of my life with. So, Zayn J. Malik, will you do me the greatest honor and marry me?” I asked, my voice coming out slightly hoarse from emotions. Zayn was now covering his mouth with his hands, tears flooding to his eyes but none fell. He shook his head rapidly as I flipped open the box, revealing a silver band. It had three triangles arranged in a triangular shape cut out, the lining of them gold and on the inside engraved was “to go alone” whereas mine had “It’s dangerous” engraved in gold- so together it read “It’s dangerous to go alone” but we never will be again, not anymore. I heard catcalls and wolf whistles behind us, the boys cheering us on as I stood up and slipped the ring onto his finger, wrapping my arms around him tightly and kissed him hard- obvious passion showing through the kiss. We pulled away minutes later, shit eating grins on both of our faces. The others laughed, congratulating us on the engagement- even Niall which sort of surprised me- with pats on the back and joking remarks.
