Now without further ado, I present to you the next chapter.

----

After walking in the shadows of the city and avoiding walkers (and anything else) at all costs we came across an abandoned store. The- what used to be- bright neon lights were gone, windows dirtied with dirt and blood. The door was broken down, and the roof was slowly falling apart, but it was perfect for the night. Besides we were too far from one of my ‘little shelters’ to walk to and stay the night at. This place would work. I could tell the entire day that the boys had been a little tense because of what had happened. I could tell they were scared, and really didn’t want to risk it happening again and getting us killed. Not that it would happen but it was good to see them aware, even though they were jumpy and paranoid and maybe a little stiff. But it was a good thing that they were, when we are in the city we have to be extra careful. It has a higher number of walkers, and they congregate into groups and hunt together. Guess they believe ‘the more the merrier’. I walked through the doorway, stepping over the broken pieces of the door. I looked around the store, or restaurant, or whatever it was. On the walls hung several little signs with what looked like Chinese on them, but they were mostly too torn and faded to actually make out what it said. Tables lay scattered on the floor, in pieces, or pushed up against the far wall were there were a set of wooden doors with a padlock and chains keeping them closed. I frowned walking towards it, only to jump back moments later when a weight was thrown against it from the inside and moans were heard- and not the pleasant kind either. I backed away from the door as fingers itched their way through the small crack between the doors that the locks allowed. Multiple fingers clawed through, the old wood peeling at their skin, nails either blackened or yellow and falling off. I backed up all the way to the farthest from the walkers. My heart was beating erratically, eyes wide. I looked over to the other three and saw that they were in the same state I was.

Well, maybe this wasn’t the perfect place after all.
