I sat in the corner, out of sight, chugging champagne and rubbing my sore feet, two hours of endless dancing in six-inch heels really did a number on them. I kept reading over the note that was anonymously slipped into my sleeve sometime tonight.
"We Know Who You Are"
I danced with over twenty people tonight, and I have no idea who it could be, and who was 'we'? It was only a week ago I was cleaning up after these parties, not attending them. Life is a lot different now, all I had to worry about then was what my daily schedule would be, and now I have to worry about is who knows my identity, and do they plan on sharing it.
"What are you doing back here? I was looking for you." I looked up to see the prince standing over me with his hands behind his back, and I smile on his face.
"Oh, sorry. I'm just taking a break." I said before I slightly tucked the note back into my sleeve. He put out a hand for me and I willingly took it, as he guided me out onto the floor where everyone was dancing. And if almost on que, the orchestra started to play a slow song. I watched as he looked around and pulled closer so he could whisper in my ear.
"My parents talked about you in the meeting today, and from what I can tell they don't recognize you. Our plan actually worked." He said, looking happier than I've seen him in a long time, and I couldn't tell him, at least, not tonight.
