Taken from the last chapter: (Peter observes Danny meditating, then does the same. He closes his eyes, inhales and exhales deeply, and before he knows it, he reaches a state of zen. He continues to breathe deeply with his eyes closed, cut to Peter at his graduation, eyes closed because he is struggling to stay awake during the salutatorian's speech. The speech seems to go on and on and on...)
SALUTATORIAN: "...and that is what I've taken away from my 4 years here at Midtown High: the mentality of looking at each day as a..."
(Peter can't help it, he's really starting to fall asleep when applause suddenly wakes him up: the speech must've finally been over. He breathes a sigh of relief; however, the valedictorian then steps up to the podium.)
VALEDICTORIAN: "Hello everyone."
PETER: (mumbling to himself) "Oh. My. God."
(Peter looks around for something interesting when he really messes up: he accidentally makes eye contact with Mary Jane from across the aisle.)
(Oh God, what do I do? He suddenly realizes that he's held on to eye contact for too long, so he quickly looks away. MJ however lingers on him, giving the idea that maybe a love is still there. When MJ looks away, Peter looks at her, obviously still in love with her. He continues to imagine what could've been when they lock eyes yet again. This time, Peter gives a nervous smile, MJ does the same, and they both awkwardly look away.)
PETER: (whispers to himself) "You are actually stupid."
(The student sitting next to him hears this, thinking Peter is talking about the valedictorian and whispers to him.)
STUDENT: "Hey, be respectful of the guy's speech please."
PETER: "But-I was...ah, never mind..."
(Cut to Peter after his graduation ceremony. He is walking to find his Aunt when the school principal decides to talk to him.)
PRINCIPAL BAKER: "Hello? Mr. Parker!"
(Peter turns to him and smiles, shaking his hand.)
PETER: "Oh hey, Mr. Baker."
BAKER: "Congratulations on graduating, I can't wait to hear all about your achievements in Columbia University!"
PETER: "Thank you! I'm really gonna try to make our high school proud."
BAKER: "That's good to hear. It's a bummer that you didn't give your valedictorian speech; after all, you had the highest GPA by far."
PETER: "Yeah, I know. I'm really sorry about that. I'm just going through some stuff right now and I didn't think I could put together a good enough-"
BAKER: "Don't worry about all that. Just go enjoy today, ok? You were a great student, Mr. Parker."
PETER: "Thank you, see ya around!"
(Peter walks away. He looks around and finds Mary Jane talking to some acting agent. He takes a deep breath, looks away, sees his aunt, and gives her a giant hug. Colleen is standing next to them. She smiles and hugs Peter. They then all walk away to celebrate Peter's graduation.)
