I am in an awkward state of mind ever since he pulled off that crazy act with me in his room above. I had quietly headed downstairs to see Sharon and now we are both patiently waiting for Nick to get down and take me shopping.
I am just staring down at the round centre table and pondering over things, while Sharon decides to break the silence.
"Is everything okay, hun?"
No. I mentally answer.
"Oh yeah. Why do you ask, Sharon?" I switch to a lively mode.
She cringes her forehead.
"You just seem too quiet. Did Nick do something again?"
"Uh well..." I look for the right words to avoid speaking more than needed.
"Oh well, did I, Andria?" His smirking voice interrupts.
We both look startled towards him as he descends the stairs. He is wearing a white shirt and black pants. What is up with him and that outfit? This is definitely not what you wear on a shopping. But regardless, he just takes my breath away.
I avoid any eye contact with him to keep myself contained.
Then I look at Sharon. Bet, this asshole was hoping to get me more nervous.
"Uh, not really, Sharon. He is just keeping me waiting for too long. I was hoping he comes down fast." I make up stuff.
"Is it? Or was there anything else you wanted to share?" He sheepishly grins.
I am biting on my lip anxiously.
Can't this idiot see that he is acting too fast around his mom?
Wait. Let me give him a taste of his own medicine.
"Apparently yes. I also wanted to tell you, Sharon that your son was saying really mean things to me when he found out that I had mistakenly gone in his room."
Sharon gets mad soon enough.
"Is that true, son?" She eyes him.
"No, what? I don't know what she is talking about?! When did I get mean to you?"
I feign innocence.
"When you found out that I used your restroom and you know, when I saw that thing inside..."
Now you will pay for all the embarrassment that you ever put me through. I grin mentally.
"What thing?" Sharon demands to know.
Nick mouths in my direction quickly - "No, please!"
I shake my head grinning.
He swipes a hand through his hair.
"It's nothing, mom. We are getting late. We better leave now."
"No, tell me? What is that thing?" Sharon is confused.
His embarrassment is evident on his red face.
I finally begin to speak.
"A pack of..." I pause.
"A pack of what?" She presses.
"A pack of cigarettes." I say, feeling triumphant at how I just got him.
It looks like his eyes are going to pop out.
Sharon is almost thrown over the edge.
"Huh?" Nick reacts stunned.
"Yeah. He has probably hidden this from you all this while." I say softly.
Sharon is too overwhelmed.
"Oh, son. Why? You have started to smoke like your dad. Since when? Why did you keep this from me? You know, I can always help you with anything." She goes all motherly on him.
He rolls his eyes, relieved though.
"Uh mom. I-I... don't think it's a big deal."
His shocked expressions are priceless. I can feel him throwing glares my way.
Poor guy. Now, he will know the power of a mischievous woman.
"He has just started, Sharon. No need to worry. We can control it before it becomes too difficult to quit. I am sure he can use my help, can't you Blaze?" I take every bit of this opportunity to suck the cockiness off his face.
I can see him gritting through his teeth.
"Yes. I. Can." he glares at me. "Don't worry about it, mom. We should probably leave now." He states, really annoyed.
"Yes, I think we should." I say, grinning ear to ear watching him.
"Okay. But I want you to quit it as soon as you can. You know the consequences, son." Oh, she is getting unbelievably emotional. Even better.
He presses on his lips. "Absolutely. See you soon mom."
"Shall we?" I say to him, all thrilled.
"Ah haan." I see the vengeance in those beautiful eyes, as he speaks.
I hug Sharon. "Bye, see you soon."
"Have fun, you two." Her mood is lit up at the site of us going together.
"Sure." We both say in unison, throwing glares at each other.
And we head outside, silently.
-------------We are out in the parking.
"Way to make me feel embarrassed." He speaks in the driving seat.
"Just returning the favors, Blaze!" I say, fastening my seat belt.
"Oh yeah?" He raises a brow.
I just shrug triumphant.
"Well then, I better offer you another favor, while I still can." His tone is malicious.
"What do you mean?" I feel nervous all of a sudden.
He shrugs back at me as he lays his hands on the steering.
Uh-oh.
"I am getting out." I quickly unclasp the belt to walk out.
But as I am about to push open the door, he locks it down with the centre locking system.
"Not so soon, honey. We still have a ride together."
"No!"
He chuckles but soon throws the darkest - cockiest glare at me.
"Yes!" I am shaken by the rage in his tone.
Apparently, he didn't take my joke back there too well.
I see him accelerate to the point where I would literally faint. I know what he is trying to do. He knows I hate speed. He knows it. Now he is getting back at me.
"Ready, Miss Stanford?" Desire to get me to pay back, evident in his voice.
I gulp.
Words ditch my voice, not wanting to leave my mouth.
He grins and steps on the gas and we roll out of the drive way with a huge jerk.
"Niiiiiiiiiiick!" I scream at the top of my lungs.
"There's no going back, baby doll! Hold your breath!"
And there goes our car, out in the proximity of the danger of being hit any minute, being wildly twirled around on the road and colliding into a massive truck.
At least that's my biggest fear. But he fails to understand that and all I could do was grip on my seat and get torn apart in the fear of losing my life.
