"Three rainy days and seven cotton tail
A buckeye in your pocket, catch a cricket in your ale
Keep a lock of baby hair, hang a horseshoe, go to sleep
Keep jewels upon your left lobe should you be taken to the deep
An acorn in the window will keep all the light away
Cross your fingers not your heart and eat an apple everyday
After rain a bridge of light, a gold fish in a pond
Tie the knot you're wedding day and never break the bond
Luck it is when life is order and dark things come and play
Knock on wood should you speak of such things so night should turn to day.
So night should turn to day
Don't pray my luck away."
Tyler's soft singing carried the bouncy tune through the trees. It echoed through the silence as they walked. The terrain was changing around them. The road they left behind made a sudden stop. Fallen debris blocked their path so they headed a different way through the trees. The ground bellow them was nothing but thick mossy roots that bent under and over the ground until it was barely visible. They lead their horses on their reigns and went slow, taking care of their footing.
"you have a good voice" Simone said.
"Thank you" Tyler said genuinely thankful, "I practice."
Tyler continued humming a little tune.
"Do you ever shut it?" Morn growled.
Tyler put his hand to his heart and looked utterly offended.
"Don't listen to him Tyler, I like your singing" Edith said.
Morn scowled at her from across a tree branch.
Trix was sitting on Tyler's hat munching on the straw with his ears perked up. Tyler removed the hat with the bunny still on it and bowed deeply toward Edith.
"Thank you madam" He nearly fell from trying to balance himself and the rabbit on uneven branches.
"If you want that rabbit to last another night you'll shut it" Morn muttered the rest under his breath "don't know what you're doing here anyway"
"Save your worthless threats" Edith said narrowing her eyes at him.
"I wasn't speaking to you woman" Morn growled.
"Of course not, I didn't think you were stupid enough to threaten me" Edith said.
"Keep talking down to me little girl and I'll teach you how wrong you are" Morn's voice got low and although he smiled wickedly he looked anything but sarcastic.
Edith stopped her horse in its tracks and stood her ground. Morn met her eyes. She never looked away she met his challenging gaze every time he gave them. He'd never seen that in a girl before, not even the most stubborn. Even in Viendenfal he felt intimidating, and not many people would challenge him so openly. Her eyes were intense enough without her unblinking gaze. It didn't intimidate him, only pissed him off.
"Would you two please stop arguing?" Lance said rolling his eyes.
"Yes, surly there are some other Viendenfal song's you'd like to hear Morn" Tyler suggest.
"We don't have songs and we definitely don't sing" Morn growled.
"You're quite a grouchy man, how long have you had the stick up your ass?" Edith taunted.
