They woke up after the sun was shining brightly on their faces. Morn was the first to wake. He was watching Biter with one eye open. Lance woke up next and proceeded to wake the others when he realized the time. The Ranger came out of the forest shortly after.

"Why didn't you wake us?" Lance asked.

"There is time" The Ranger said.

The pack pony was already strapped in.

"we'll have to take breakfast along the way. We've wasted day already" Lance sighed.

Tyler yawned and stretched.

"you going to wake up Edith?" he asked. Lance didn't say anything but it was obvious he didn't want to.

Morn carefully woke the sleeping Biter. She got up excitedly and placed her paw delicately on the ground.

"no no girl" Morn said. She backed away when he tried picking her up like it was a game. She jumped back to where Edith was sleeping and stepped on her hair. She licked Edith's face and sniffed her blanket.

Edith sat up, her eyes bloodshot, scaring Bitter away.

She didn't say a word. She looked at Morn and then at Biter her chest heaving.

"If that dog so much-" Edith started but Tyler intervened.

"Lance and Morn are brothers" he spoke loudly like a man who just found out he was having children.

Edith stop her threat and froze.

"what?" She asked.

She looked at both of them like they had hit her in the gut.

Lance shrugged. Morn looked away.

"brothers?" she repeated.

Lance nodded.

"blood brothers?" She clarified.

"for fuck's sake we share the same mother" Morn growled.

A narrow eyed smile appeared on her face.

"what are you gawking at?" Morn asked.

Edith chuckled.

She shook her head "nothing."

She got up still chuckling.

"If that dog comes near me again. I'll kill it." Edith said.

"as if you could" Morn said under his breath.

Tyler looked a little crestfallen and turned to Simone "such a disappointing reaction, hardly a surprised gawk, just a little chuckle."

"maybe its because she's still half asleep" Simone suggested.

Morn scratched Biter's head curiously pondering the sudden change in Bitter's feelings for Edith. When Edith had sought privacy in the forest a little later Tyler told him, as though reading his mind

"You know I think Edith's taken a liking to little old Biter"

Morn paused for a moment "I think she just likes biting men more."

"I don't think that's the case" Tyler said.

"What would you know about it?" Morn asked.

Tyler shrugged "nothing really"

Lance was finished packing before everyone else "come on we should keep moving" Lance said.

Edith stood behind him, a new outfit and her hair freshly pulled back. The Ranger found them when they were ready to walk and headed into the thinning forest.
