A torch floated next to Morn's head singing his hair as he whipped it around left and right through the darkness. The cave traveled from up high to down low, through little nooks and small corridors followed by a whisper that echoed along the solid walls.
"Biter"
Morn was followed by Lance who was walking more slowly behind him. They're companions were lost in the darkness and they were alone.
"Morn. Slow down. I think its time you stop avoiding me."
Morn froze. He looked around already knowing they were only one's in the corridor but checking twice for good measure.
"Avoiding you?" Morn turned. His worry replaced with frustration.
"This whole time you've hardly said a word to me." Lance explained.
"Do I have a reason to?" Morn asked.
Lance looked deeply hurt. So much so Morn's face flashed sorrow for a moment before he turned away.
"You're my brother Morn." Lance said, not meeting Morn's eyes.
Morn tried to harden his sentiment but he actually felt a kind of weight lifting from him.
"I'm your brother now am I?" Morn asked, "I never thought you'd like to admit it."
"I was a fool Morn. I am sorry." Lance bowed his head taking Morn aback. Morn looked around for the others as thought he needed another pair of eyes to validate Lance's words.
"Come off it." Morn brushed him off and paused "How long has it been" he didn't give Lane time to answer "I never thought I'd see you're pretty boy face again."
"I mean it I'm sorry." Lance said.
Morn shook his head. "Why'd you lie to the other's then? 'Guardsmen'"
"I volunteered to be here. I don't want any special treatment." Lance said. "I didn't know you would be here too."
"Putting a damper on your perfect little world again am I?" Morn asked bitterly.
"No, I never said that. Its fate telling us we need to fix the past." Lance said.
Morn laughed loudly and it echoed up and down the tunnel bouncing off walls and making the sound sinister .
Lance clamped his jaw with unease "I forgot... you don't believe..."
"Piss cock nonsense. Your mother must be beating you with that holy book, whatever it was"
"The Sol" Lance corrected harshly. "And she's your mother t-" Lance was cut off by Morn's arm hammering his neck and blocking him against the tunnel wall.
"That bitch is not my mother"
Lance had a knife to his side.
"Still sensitive I see." Lance said.
"Don't talk about me like you know me Lance. We share the same blood and that is all." Morn said.
Lance lowered his knife in a kind of surrender.
"I doubt anyone knows who you were more than I."
"It doesn't make a difference who I was."
"Then lets leave the past in the past. I've changed a lot too." Lance said.
Morn let him off the wall but shook his head.
I'm not here to make friends with you Lance." Morn said firmly.
