"Hikari" Simone said. Tyler was up in seconds. The others were gathering their things lighting fast. Down the road from where they had come the dirt was turning white. Tyler only glanced at the light getting closer for a second before they took their horses and road through the trees. The Ranger had abandon the road and followed a different path. They only hoped it would disorient the terrible beasts. They road for hours and it seemed like the light was back to normal. But one small stop and the forest was lit again. This time it wasn't a shower of light that blotted out anything behind it. One tree would go white, then at random another tree. In a blink of an eye they were on the move again. They felt relief only when the rest of the world went into darkness. But even then they did not rest. They kept each other from falling off their horses and they dozed where they sat.The Ranger was taking a confusing route through the trees. Only he knew where they were. A few more days passed and the Hikari were nowhere to be seen. They hoped it meant that they had lost them. Morn suggested covering their tracks every time they made camp. Edith and Morn both used their own techniques of confusing them.
"Why do you think their after us?" Simone asked.
"They must know what we're doing" Morn said.
"How?" Edith asked.
"I mean, we do bring a lot of attention to ourselves. No one travels this far like we are for no reason." Morn said.
"That's true, but didn't the Del-folk man tell us that the Hikari come from the mountain? We crossed the mountain, we were right next to the mountain, and we've only just now seen one? Not to mention there's been no word of them coming this far. That village we lost- " Lance didn't finish "That's part of my kingdom. And people spoke of Hikari in stories, no one took it seriously. If there was a village in danger we would have come to their aid."
"Well you can't save something that's already gone." Morn said.
"That's true, it seems like they just disappear overnight" Edith said.
"Still" Lance wasn't convinced. He had a bad feeling. A terrible feeling, he was sure the others felt something similar. Like rabbits being chased by a fox.
A day later they walked slowly through the forest. There were small paths here and there and old hunting traps. Lance stopped Tyler from getting his horse caught in one.
Morn threw a stone into it and a huge net, hidden in dirt and leaves concaved onto it, lifting it into the air.
"Impressive" Edith said. She squinted, examining the finely woven net.
"Big enough for a bear" Lance said.
"Perhaps I should lead the way this time." Edith suggested.
"just follow the Ranger, he's been avoid traps so far." Lance said.
"yes, but he hasn't been deactivating them" Edith said.
"why deactivate them? Someone probably needs them." Tyler said.
"true, but if that's the case, try not to get caught in one" Edith said. Tyler nodded.
The Ranger soon lead them to an old building. There was a steam rising from over a white wall. It had garrisons ridged into the top but there was no watch tower and no weapons of defense. The wall that made the entrance was impressive but obviously for show. It was beautiful even still, the gates were latched tightly shut.
"I think I know what this is" Lance said.
"A bath house?" Morn guessed.
Lance nodded.
