Edith didn't know how or why the door had opened but once everyone was inside she had shut it again. She latched it with a large wood plank and stepped back.
They were in a hallway. On either side of them were two large stair cases leading to a second floor. There was a larger door in front of them. On either side were mirrors and little racks of spears, axes and swords. The hall was dark and dusty. Not a single footprint disturbed the ground. There was silence, the roar of the monster outside was forgotten in the quiet of the interior. The Ranger let Lance fall against a wall, tears in his eyes from pain. Simone quickly sat next to him rummaging through his depleted supplies for something to stop the bleeding and brace his leg.
"I need cloth and something hard" Simone said.
Morn wasted no time. He ripped a curtain from a wall and took the rod that attached it. Dust flew around him. It sent Tyler into a coughing fit. The curtain was practically white, the color long since had faded. Simone used the rod to prop his leg and the curtain to stop the bleeding. Edith stared in awe at the sight behind the cloth Morn had pulled. Light shone behind what looked like glass. They had just came from outside seconds before and yet it was growing dark then. Through this glass was a scene of beautiful hills, cut into them were fields of water and little plants sticking out of them. Edith touched the glass and could feel the warmth with her hands yet the harder she looked she could see it was just a painting. Its colors still full but its glow slightly faded.
Tyler looked at the closed door in front of them. He tentatively walked to it and as he did he felt the walls get smaller on either side of him. The door had looked tall enough for a horse but as he stood next to it, it hardly came over his head. He backed away from it and looked at Edith, confusion in his face.
"We need to look for an infirmary in this place, there might be some supplies we need them." Simone said.
"I don't think we should split up" Tyler said. Edith nodded her agreement.
Nyam was staring at a mirror next to a weapons rack. It was old and grimy black on the edges. The Ranger touched the weapons on the rack. They were rotted, unpolished and draped in cobwebs.
"Lets get him away from this door" Morn suggested.
"Maybe Tyler should help, you don't look so good Morn" Simone said.
"I'm fine" Morn said flatly.
"Infirmaries are usually next to a sept right?" Edith said.
Morn and Tyler nodded.
"okay lets look" Tyler said.
He made his way through the strange small door. Morn picked up Lance half carried half dragged him along. He too was limping.
Edith had her swords out. They walked through hall after dusty hall. Each one was filled with something stranger than the last. No sign of people of life in any. They reached a long hall of dusty, grimy mirrors before entering a round room with a few beds.
A latter lead to little cubbies where overgrown plants had made their home. There was a hole in the wall opposite where they had come it. It was dripping onto the floor where a pool of water had formed.
"This is good enough" Simone said. He set Lance down on one of the tables. Morn sat on one opposite. Little jars and strange looking machinery were stored neatly in a large cabinet. It seemed the most intact by time than the rest of the castle. Simone couldn't tell if the devices were used to harm or heal but all of them looked dangerous. Simone began cleaning and stitching Lance's wound once more. Lance looked pale and tired where he lay. He's eyes were half closed.
