Waiting impatiently in the backseat of the car, Ronald gazed at the window. The car drove at a constant speed with bright yellow leaves falling against it. He may hate this world and its society, however, he loves nature and every single detail about it. I wonder if I die I would end up as one of the individual leaves that swoops in the air without a care in the world.
"That sounds very poetic"
The boy jumped at the voice. He realized that it was just Violet and frowned at her for ruining the atmosphere.
<Will you please stop reading my mind>, Ronald signaled.
"You were contemplating about death again", Violet shrugged.
<I am sure that everyone tends to contemplate about death>
"Well if you want to ponder about leaves, I heard from a passing conversation that trees are like people and that the leaves that grow on them are its friends. The more leaves the tree grows the more friends it has, but the more leaves it loses the more friends it loses. That shows that not all friends stay. However, there is a specific leaf the sometimes stays that shows that it is the trees, one true friend. On the other hand, I wonder how losing friends or leaves represents the death of a tree. I understand most of the outline of a tree but never the death... weird huh."
Before Ron was about to respond to that account, he spotted his father looking at him with confusion.
"Um... Ronald who are you gesturing to", Mr. Ryland asked, seeing how his son is communing with thin air.
Immediately, the brunette shook his head and focus his attention back on the window.
"Oh... okay then", Mr. Ryland responded with a worried expression.
Awkward silence started building up and Mr. Rhyland felt very uncomfortable. When he was about to try to start a conversation with Ronnie, he immediately stepped on the brakes. There was an incident that occurred and him, halting the car at an immediate pace almost caused Ronald to fall from his seat.
"B'lyad'!", yelled the father at the cars in front of him.
Alerted by that unknown word, Ronald looked at his father wanting to know what was that all about.
"Uh... ahem... something snagged into my throat", Mr. Ryland explained, "So... are you excited for your very first day of school."
Losing interest, Ronald leaned his head against the window and snoozed. Mr. Rhyland, however, wants to commune with his son. Ever since Ronald came to Los Angeles to live with him, Rhyland was not acting as a good father towards Ronnie. First of all, Rhyland is a drunkard. Second, of all, he's a psychiatrist and he tends to work over time, thus revealing that he does not always see his son every day. Third of all, he did not know he had a son from the start. Fourth of all, he follows a book on how to be a good parent. And finally fifth of all, he kept forgetting Ronald exists. Rhyland wanted to be a good father towards Ron but does not know how to. So he cleared his throat and started to talk to Ron in order to make him feel delighted today.
"Well"
Oh no, not this again...
"It is your first day of school and I understand you're nervous... but remember... I was in this type of situation and I just learn to just handle what the world has to offer. Your not the only one to be tormented by this... "
I know you kept telling me this even when I first came here.
"And look I know you still don't see me as a role model because your mother never told you that you have an actual father, but when you need me, I will be there to support you even though when I'm not there."
