I can feel the bright morning sun's warmth on my face. Flinching, I slowly open my eyes. "It's morning already?"
Lazily, I throw off my blanket and move to where I'm sitting on the edge of the bed. I then rub my eyes, trying to wake up more.
Looking down at the floor, I grip the red heart locket on my necklace. (This week is my last chance to confess my feelings to Sans..I hope I can do it.)
Standing up, I walk over to my closet, sorting through my clothes to try finding something pretty to wear.
I pick out a light blue, long tank top with red flower print on it, along with a pair of black shorts.
After getting dressed and doing my morning hygiene, I also decide to put on a light pink lip tint.
"Okay, I can do this."
As I run downstairs to put on my shoes, I hear a knock on the door.
"Come in," I shout.
Sans slowly opens the door and walks in, closing it behind him. "Hey, kid. Almost ready?"
"Yeah, just putting my shoes on."
Every time I try tying a bow in my shoe strings, I somehow mess up. It doesn't help that I can feel Sans staring at me. After minute or two of me failing to tie them, he walks over and kneels beside of me, taking the shoestrings from my hands. "Jeez kid, where'd you learn to tie shoes?"
I feel my face heating up from embarrassment. "I-I was getting it.."
"Looked to me like you were getting a bit..tied up," he jokes, tying the other shoe as well. Afterwards, he stands up and ruffles my hair. "Ready?"
I nod in response, combing my fingers through my hair in attempt to fix it.
The two of us walk out of the house, locking the door behind us.
The walk to the forest is rather silent. We say a few things to each other, but don't have an actual conversation.
Just as the forest comes into view, Sans puts his arm around my back, causing me to flinch.
"U-uh..Sans?"
He smiles down at me, causing me to blush. I feel him close the space between us even more.
(W-we're so close!)
Suddenly, I remember what mom had told me. (She..did say he likes me, but..I'm so self conscious! My heart's racing!!)
The two of us continue walking in silence until we come to the inner part of the forest. As Sans lets go of me, I feel a twinge of sadness in my heart.
He walks over and sits down by the edge of the bank, leaving me alone;staring at him.
"Kid..? Why don't ya take a seat?" He says, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"R-right!" I plop down onto the ground a few feet away from him.
Sans gives me a quizzical look. "You, uh..don't have to sit so far away, y'know. I'm not gonna bite."
"S-sorry..is just prefer to sit here, if that's okay," I respond nervously.
"Whatever you're most comfortable with, I guess.."
I clench my hands into fists, biting my bottom lip. (We're completely alone. Now's the best time to do it.)
"Hey Sa-"
"Hey, Frisk.." he says, interrupting me.
"Wh-what is it?"
Sans lays down on his back and stares up at the sky. "These past weeks have been pretty fun. I enjoyed making memories with you. I enjoyed spending time with you as a human. But.." he closes his eyes, taking a deep breath, "sometimes even good things have to come to an end, y'know?"
I look towards his face, which is now turned towards me. "What do you mean," I ask.
"I mean..I can't stay human forever, Frisk. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before, but I didn't want you to worry about it."
(That's right..) I think to myself, (he changes back at the end of this week.)
I crawl over towards him until I'm sitting right next to him. "Sans, I already know.." I confess.
"You do?"
I nod. "Actually...there's something I want to talk to you about.."
"What is it," he asks, sitting upright again.
(This is it, I can do this!) "Y-you see, I--"
Just then, Sans' phone starts ringing.
"I'm sorry." He pulls out his phone and checks the caller ID. "It's Pap..I should probably take this."
"R-right.."
Sans answers his phone.
I don't hear any of the conversation due to being lost in thought. (Now what should I do? This was the perfect chance to confess..I may never have another opportunity like this..)
I hear Sans let out a large sigh as he hangs up his phone. "Kid, I'm really sorry, but Paps needs me."
"I-it's okay," I say, feeling my heart sink.
Sans gives me an apologetic smile as he stands up, extending his hand to me. I look up at him, hesitantly placing my hand in his and standing up.
The two of us walk back to my house in silence, holding hands the whole way.
Once we arrive at my front door, Sans finally speaks up.
"Y'know, you can come to our place if you'd like."
I shake my head in response. "No, it's okay. I think I'll stay here and clean a little," I say as an excuse.
"You sure? I can come back by later and help if you want me to."
"It's okay, don't worry about me. I'll be fine."
Just before I get a chance to say goodbye, Sans says something else.
"Oh yeah, you wanted to tell me something back there, didn't you?"
I look away from him. Not feeling courageous enough to say it now, I respond with "It's..not important. I'll tell you another day."
"You sure?"
"Yeah.."
"If you say so, kid."
Sans waves goodbye to me, walking towards his car.
(W-wait..I have to at least try..)
"Sans..wait," I yell, running after him.
Right as he turns around, I feel my foot hit something. As I start to fall, I tightly shut my eyes and prepare for the impact. However, my landing doesn't feel as hard as I'd expected it to; though I did hurt my knee.
"Oww.."
"Kid, are you okay?"
I push myself up a little, saying "Y-yeah. I just--"
My eyes widen in surprise as I realize the position we're in. My arms are on either side of Sans' body and our faces are only inches apart. As I stare into his eyes, I can feel my face heating up.
"Frisk?"
I quickly roll off of him and stand up, giving him an awkward smile. "Sorry, I'm okay! A-anyway, have a good night!"
After saying that, I run inside and quickly shut the door, leaning against it.
(I can't believe that just happened..I'm so embarrassed..) I think to myself as I slide down the door into a sitting position.
"I've never seen his face that close before..he really is handsome.."
I hug my knees close to my chest, resting my chin on them. "I'm such an idiot..."

~Sans' POV~
After parking my car, I make may way to the front porch and knock on the door.
"Come in," I hear Frisk shout.
I slowly open the door and step in, closing the door behind me.
"Hey, kid. Almost ready?"
"Yeah, just putting my shoes on."
I notice that she seems kinda flustered, and is having trouble tying her shoes. After letting her try it a few more times, I walk over and kneel beside her, taking the shoestrings from her. "Jeez kid, where'd you learn to tie shoes?"
"I-I was getting it.."
"Looked to me like you were getting a bit..tied up," I joke as I tie the other shoe as well. Afterwards, I stand up and playfully ruffle her hair. "Ready?"
She nods in response, combing her fingers through her hair.
The two of us walk out of the house, locking the door behind us.
We say a few things to each other along the way, but other than that, the walk is mostly silent.
As we get closer to the forest, I gently wrap my arm around her back, feeling her body tense up for a moment.
"U-uh..Sans?"
I smile down at her, noticing her face turning red. (She's so damn cute. I wonder if it would bother her if I told her that.?)
I decide to just keep my mouth shut, pulling her closer to me instead.
The two of us continue walking in silence until we come to the inner part of the forest. I let go of her and walk over to sit down by the edge of the bank. I look over towards her to see if she was following, only to notice her staring at me.
"Kid..? Why don't ya take a seat," I ask, trying to hide my discomfort.
"R-right!" She plops down into the ground, sitting a few feet away from me.
I can't help but give her a quizzical look. "You, uh..don't have to sit so far away, y'know. I'm not gonna bite."
"S-sorry..is just prefer to sit here, if that's okay," she responds, sounding nervous.
"Whatever you're most comfortable with, I guess.." (Why do I get the feeling she's avoiding me?) I ask myself as I glance over at the side of her face. (She seems kinda spaced out. I wonder what happened..)
After taking a deep breath, I decide to tell her that this is my last week.
"Hey, Frisk.."
"Wh-what is it?"
I lay down on my back and stare up at the sky, watching the clouds go by. "These past weeks have been pretty fun. I enjoyed making memories with you. I enjoyed spending time with you as a human. But.." I close my eyes, taking another deep breath. "sometimes even good things have to come to an end, y'know?"
I look over towards Frisk who is now looking at me in confusion. "What do you mean," she asks.
"I mean..I can't stay human forever, Frisk. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before, but I didn't want you to worry about it."
After a moment of silence, she
crawls over towards me until she's sitting right next to me. "Sans, I already know.."
(Wait..what?) "You do?"
She nods, looking down nervously. "Actually...there's something I want to talk to you about.."
"What is it," I ask, sitting upright again. "Y-you see, I--"
Just then, my phone starts ringing.
"I'm sorry." I pull out my phone and check the caller ID. "It's Pap..I should probably take this."
"R-right.."
I answers the phone.
"Hey, Pap, what's up?"
"Brother!! I, The Great Papyrus, have a..problem."
"What is it, bro?"
"You'd see, I kind of accidentally..left my keys in the house when I left. Could you possibly come let me in?"
"Sure thing, be there soon."
As I hang up the phone, I let out a large sigh.
"Kid, I'm really sorry, but Paps needs me."
"I-it's okay."
Noticing her sad expression, I give her an apologetic smile as I stand up, extending my hand to her. She looks up at me, hesitantly placing her hand in mine and standing up.
The two of us walk back to her house in silence, holding hands the whole way.
Once we arrive at her front door, I finally speak up, letting go of her hand.
"Y'know, you can come to our place if you'd like."
She shakes her head. "No, it's okay. I think I'll stay here and clean a little."
"You sure? I can come back by later and help if you want me to."
"It's okay, don't worry about me. I'll be fine."
Suddenly, I remember what was going on before Papyrus called.
"Oh yeah, you wanted to tell me something back there, didn't you?"
She looks away from me, saying "It's..not important. I'll tell you another day."
"You sure," I ask, trying to give her another chance to say what's on her mind.
"Yeah.."
"If you say so, kid."
I turn away and wave goodbye to her as I walk towards my car. However, I'm stopped as I'm a few feet from it.
"Sans..wait," I hear Frisk yell.
Just as I turn around, I see her falling towards me. I try catching her, causing us both to go down.
"Oww.."
"Kid, are you okay," I ask, worried that she's hurt.
She pushes herself up a little, saying "Y-yeah. I just--"
She stops talking, her eyes widening in surprise. I notice her face turning red as we stare into each others' eyes.
"Frisk?"
She quickly rolls off of me and stands up, giving me an awkward smile. "Sorry, I'm okay! A-anyway, have a good night!"
I sit up and watch as she hurries inside. "What was that all about..?"
I stand up and pat the grass off of my shorts before continuing my walk to the car. "Guess I need to hurry and let Papyrus in before he gets mad at me."
I get into the car and head home, wondering the whole way what it was that Frisk wanted to say to me before my brother called. "Oh well, I guess I'll just have to ask her again some other time."
