Rain drops. They can ruin a perfect day according to some people. And they are horrible signs in any movie.
'What a shame it's raining out.'
Have you ever heard that saying?
I have.
Isn't it funny? How simple water drops falling from the sky could ruin someones day? How they can predict such atrocious events?
A small drip of water splashing on the earth. Some say it's the Heavens tears.
And I didn't believe rains curse. I never did. In fact I've had the most delightful days in the rain.
But HE....HE ruined it. Just like everything else I loved.

The day lasted for what seemed like forever. Nathan kept looking over to me and we kept making faces to each other. The awkward faces that show that 'I am thinking about you.' My eyes couldn't stay focused on my computer. They kept glancing to the clock that ticked ever so slowly. I wanted time to move faster. And finally the clock answered my prayers and I was packing up fast. From the corner of my eye I could see Nathan sitting at the edge of my desk.

"You ready?"

My face flushes by the sudden conversation as I try to hold back my eagerness.

"Yes I am. But I would like to stop at my house really quick."

I pick up my bag and face him, looking right into those beautiful eyes. A twinkle seems to shine in them.
He is so handsome.

"Take your time. It's alright. I can wait for a nice night out. If you call me I will pick you up."

To that lightning struck outside. The rain hasn't lessened at all. But that was the least of my concerns. To be honest, I love the rain.

I readied myself for my first date in a long time. Is this even a date? Only time will tell. This night could be a flop for all I know. It didn't matter. I was going out with someone. I wasn't going to be alone. I pull out a purple dress for the occasion and put it on. Spinning a little in the mirror, I felt reborn.

8 pm.

I was truly ready now. I go through my phone and tap on the newly added contact.

"Hey."

"Hi."

"I'm ready to be picked up. I'm sorry if you had to wait on me."

He chuckles over the phone. Butterflies flutter in my stomach a moment. I guess I could say I am growing a small crush on him. But that could be in the moment of desperation for attention.

"I didn't wait that long. It's okay. I'm on my way."

"Thanks. I can't wait for tonight."

"I can't wait for the food."

"Ok Mr. Foodie. I'll see you."

"I'll see you."

I find myself walking passed my mirror. My joyful face lit up the room. It was a slight red with a great smile bringing up the corners of my lips. This is what I need. And for a moment I forgot all my problems.

Nathan showed up not that long after in a surprisingly nice car. It must have costed a lot of money. Maybe he comes from a rich family.
