Tyrone collected the mail and returned it to the front of the desk. I scanned the mail before picking it up. Just boring adult stuff except for a letter from the spectator and...my father...I picked up the spectators letter and read it to myself.
Dear CJ's,
Like you know you have until January 1rst to have an idea or a partnership to keep your restaurant up. If you are not to come up with the idea or partnership your restaurant will be taken down and sold. You are still nominated for the restaurant of the year but next year you won't and you will have to find a way to support yourself again.
sincerely,
Mrs.Linwood
I sighed scratching my head and plopping down on the chair. "What's wrong baby girl?" My mom asks.
I hand her the letter. Her smile faded away as she read the letter. "We'll lose everything," I cry.
"Baby girl everything will be good, just you have to believe and keep working to it," She tells me.
I knew she's just trying to cheer me up cause her faded smile gave me a hint that she knew we were going to lose the restaurant. She kissed my head telling me everything would be okay even though it wasn't before leaving me to myself.
I focus turned to the letter that came from my dad. I wasn't sure if I even wanted to open it anymore mean the man hurt me by leaving with no calls, text, not even a little visit. Now is when he's going to try to reach out? I mean we kind almost all died the couple weeks ago and now you're going to reach out? Heck, he doesn't even know hat's going on with grandpa, he doesn't even know that grandma died.
I sighed and stared at the letter. I picked it up and started to open it cut the stopped and grazed the letter. I put it down exhaling. "Jasmine what are you doing, if he wasn't in your life before then he shouldn't be in it now," I told myself as I remembered having him as a kid but leaving a few years before grandma died.
I ran my fingers through my hair and look towards the window that held a rainy day outside. "Someday...I'll open the letter and read it when I feel like," I mumble playing with my fingers.
I take the letter and stuffed it in my bag deciding to put in my old drawer at home for later where I would forget about it.
"The letter will be opened when I feel better," I tell myself.
The letter
Poem by Cin
(I wrote this poem for the story, sorry that ist's really better)
Days fly by
She is running out of time
Without you, our hearts get weak no word to speak as the winter days pass on
grandpa getting ill
Wasted calendars, dry, markers no ink tear on the table, red eyes waiting for your arrival
grandma's greeting me with a ghostly matter as we wear black without color with the brown wooden coffin lowering into a hole of nothing without a goodbye
every day we try, momma collapsing on the ground
Every day I see frown, for a year I never saw a real smile
speed up, speed up
time is up time is up
no more waiting, too late to say sorry
no returns full garbage
our family's bridge, no longer more there
cousin hurt
ever since I go to church hoping for your return
and you send me a letter if your wishing for a respond, good luck
cause I ain't answering the letter until I get better...
A/N Extra treat! Thank you all! and keep sucking up the world of romance!
