Joel's pov:
The door opens.
"Hello." I say simply.
"You are?"
"Joel Peat."
Nat's mother sighs.
"Natalie isn't here right now, you'll have to w-"
"I'm not here to see Nat. I'm here to see you." I say.
She raises her eyebrows in interest.
"Oh?"
"It's about Nat... and me." I tell her.
She keeps quiet but then breaks the silence.
"You better come in then Mr Peat." she says and steps aside.
Nat's pov:
I unlock the front door and kick off my shoes and drop my bag in the hallway.
"MUM! I'M HOME!" I shout.
I walk into the living room but stop when I see Joel sitting on the sofa.
"Joel! What're you doi-"
"Natalie." Mum appears in the doorway and beckons me into the kitchen.
She shuts the door behind me.
"He came here to make a good impression on me. He's trying to convince me that he's good enough for you Nat. We've spoken for quite a while but I still don't think he's an impressionable young man." She says.
"So...it's a no then?" I ask.
Joel's pov:
"So...it's a no then?" I hear Nat ask.
I sigh to myself, then get up and grab my bag before pulling on my shoes and leaving.
Nat's pov:
"Joel?" I ask, walking out of the kitchen.
But he's not sitting on the sofa.
His bag and shoes gone.
Great.
Joel's pov:
I run home, tears stinging my eyes.
I thought I'd get her back, I thought her mum would approve.
But she didn't.
And I'm gonna be alone.
Forever.
