Simon was born Simone, and only recently came to terms with being transgender. Tobi, his best friend, is the first person he tells.
Tobi's response is to immediately drag Simon to his closet and have him try on outfit after outfit, and the ones he likes he gets to keep.
This can be romantic or platonic, I just think it sounds like a super cute scene.
