Dear Me,

So we left off with Nick and I...eyes locked longing with emotion and rage. I hopped down from the ledge and walked towards him. He wanted to say something I know he did but...he heisted. Jaded, and outdated I reach my hand out cupping his chin and creasing his cheek. He takes his hands and plants them onto mine. I had him right in my grasp and I fooled him. I move my hand and I walked away. I stopped to see if he was going to run after me...and he didn't. Why didn't he? I wanted him to and he didn't. I shouldn't have met him. I shouldn't have gone to that party. I should've stayed home. I still don't even know who my dad is. Nor do I want to know. Today is a new day...I'm a survivor and I will survive today.

Love sincerely,

Me

"Why do you write on the job?" Jake asks.
I shrug, "why do you have to watch me?" I snap back at Jake who's across the diner behind the counter serving people.

"Don't get snappy with me." He fought back.
I roll my eyes as I slide out of the booth and walk behind the counter. I hide my notebook in my bookbag. "Well, I wouldn't have to if you weren't so nosy." He snarls at me sarcastically saying something under his breath.

 "What was that?"
He grins. "Nothing."
I roll my eyes again. "You know one of these days your eyes are gonna get stuck."

"And one of these days I'm gonna die! Can I please get my order!" An older man, in his late to mid-twenties early thirties snaps.

"Sorry, sir I had to set this guy straight."
"Yeah, that's nice just take my order sweetheart." He doesn't dare look at me. I roll my eyes and walk over to his table. I pull out a notepad and a pen.
"What would you like?"

"Well, it would be great if you could give me some water."
I bite my lower lip, "okay." I walk back to the counter and grab him some water.

"Is this VOSS?" He asks as if we're suburban rich folk like Nick and his family. I sigh, "no sir...would you."-

"Are you getting sassy with me? I can have you fired."
I ball my fist, clenching at them, in the process I make finger marks on the palms of my hand. "No, I'm sorry sir. Jake, please take this guy's order before I go."-

"Look I'm sorry sweetheart." I roll my eyes. "Please don't call me that...just give me the order so we can move on with our lives." He smirks, "you sound just like my ex."

"That's not creepy at all," I mumble.
"I haven't seen her in 17 years...her name started with an E...okay sorry some scrambled eggs would be fine." He sets the menu down and I give Jake his order. After I had handed him his order it was my time to clock out. "Have fun being bored without me." I joke putting on my book bag behind my back.

"Oh, I think I can survive."
I gasp, "unbelievable."
Jackson winks at me. "You'll live."
I nod, "yea I will." I walk out.

As I approach my car and accidentally drop my keys. "Here I got it."
I huff, "thanks but no thanks I got this." I crouch down and grab my keys.
"Buttercup did you get my messages and flowers?"

I laugh, "have you forgotten I hate flowers, and yes I've seen those messages...I told you I'm not mad but you're starting to make me angry." He gently grabs me.
"I know you hate flowers...I just."-

"Just what? Wanted to get a rise out of me well you did!"

"Buttercup." He said.
"No, you don't get to call me that...not after what you did to me!"

He sighs, "I miss you."

I laugh in his face. "If you did then where were you? Where were you when I needed you! When the jokes were being made and the lies Nick the lies!"
He bites his lower lip. "I should've listened to you when you told me... too. You don't deserve me not now at least." Nick wipes his face almost hiding his laughter.

"Okay you wanna be a bitch then I'll be the biggest ass you've ever seen." Not going to lie that line was cringey.

He pushes me up against the car. I smack him in the face.
"Is there a problem?" The man from the diner says interrupting our intense staredown. "Nope," Nick says.
"Okay well then leave this young lady alone." Nick slowly steps back.
"See you around Nick."
Nick ignores me as he walks off.
"Thanks but I had it handled."

He chuckles. "You backed up cornered onto a car is handling things?"
I shrug, "we do this a lot. I'll be fine." He nods, "you sure, he seemed pretty angry." I nod, "I'm Isaac by the way."

I nod, "Aria, sorry but I have to go home. I'm on watch time."
I climb into my car and drive off. When I arrived home my aunt was nowhere to be in sight. Vanessa's photo pops up on my phone and I answer.

Vanessa- how's your summer going?

Aria- boring wish I could be in Hawaii with you

Vanessa- I know but you're on watch

Aria- so whatever hey, did you talk to Jake?

Vanessa- (sighs) okay well I guess he hasn't told you

Aria- what you guys took the relationship to the next level?

Vanessa- no we broke up

Aria- oh damn, why?

Vanessa- we grew apart

Aria- well that's cool... I'll call you later

I hang up and dial Jake's number

Jake- I'm starting to regret giving you my number

Aria- why didn't you tell me?

Jake- tell you what?

Aria- that you and V broke up we had a deal!

Jake- because it's none of your business and we're not friends so I'm not obligated to tell you anything

Aria- fine I was just concerned

Jake- why?

Aria- cause I want to and control your temper

Jake- it always is until I talk to you

Aria- bye

I hang up and fall into my bed.
