Nyla
I scrubbed the sleep out of my eyes, throwing on a nude bralette and black sweatpants. When I went downstairs, several of the other guests were lounging around. Peggy caught me roaming and gave me a worried look.
"You missed breakfast dear. There are left overs in the kitchen."
I said thanks and waved her away but she kept on. "Are you looking for your husband? He's on the porch if you are." She dropped her voice down to a whisper. "I heard y'all arguing last night, is everything ok? I know a nice marriage counselor who specializes in newlyweds-"
"Thanks again Peggy." I made my way out to the patio, which was decorated with a set of two tables and chairs. Tons of Lilies and Daffodils were arranged in the space and the sun was high in the sky. Malakai was seated at on of the tables, a cigarette tucked in between his full lips and a book in his hands. He was completely shirtless, and his feet rested on the chair opposite him. His hair was growing unkempt and so was his beard, making him look even more rugged.
Malakai's eyebrows creased together as he studied the pages carefully, exhaling his smoke and licking his lips. Even though I disliked his ass at the moment, I couldn't help but be aroused at how striking he was.
There were two white girls at the table on the other side of the patio and they were glancing at him occasionally, whispering and giggling. He didn't seem to notice but I narrowed my eyes as the tall skinny one with long chestnut hair approached him. She bent down to his ear and said something I couldn't make out.
He didn't even look up from his book, just fished in his pocket, pulling out a lighter and holding it out for her. I snickered at her as her face fell and she took the lighter, heading back to her dumbass friend.
"Maybe he's gay." I said as she walked by me.
"That could be the only explanation." She replied back, giving a hopeful smile.
I rolled my eyes, sauntering up behind him and wrapping my arms around his neck. I delivered a kiss to his neck. I could feel the two girls staring holes in my back and just nuzzled my nose into his neck, smiling to myself. No matter how upset with me he was, he would always be mine.
I half expected him to brush me off but he still didn't look up from his reading. "What do you want?" He mumbled coldly.
I sighed my eyes and came around, pushing his feet off of the chair so I could sit down. "We should be gone."
"It's almost three Nyla. The only reason we haven't left yet is because your ass decided to sleep all day." He said, sounding annoyed. He flipped a page and tapped the end of his cigarette on the edge of the table, the ashes falling to the ground.
"Then let's be out now, these people are getting on my nerve." I whispered.
"Fine." He snapped the book shut and got up to go inside.
"Wait!" the girl from earlier waved his lighter around. "What about this?"
"Keep it." He slammed the door behind him. I gave them another sly smirk and followed after him. Peggy glanced at us worriedly as we went upstairs and I inwardly rolled my eyes. Funny how people will take it upon themselves to insert themselves into your relationship. Where they don't belong.
We packed everything up. I took a shower and Malakai decided to skip his. When I came out of the bathroom Malakai was counting money.
"What are you doing?" I said, throwing on a mesh pink body suit and denim jumper. I pulled on my black and white Vans and ran coconut oil through my thick hair.
"I'm going to pay before we leave." He tossed me a 'duh' look. I just chuckled, shaking my head and applying cherry chap-stick.
"We not paying, we have to save money Malakai."
"How you expect-"
"I got it." I held up my finger and he raised his hands in defeat. He got dressed in a black Adidas tee, matching shorts, and white Huaraches. When we went downstairs I motioned for Malakai to follow me and proceeded to walk past Peggy.
"Oh, leaving already? Perfect, iv'e got your bill right here." She said.
I turned around, giving her a confused look. "Bill?" I chuckled slightly, "You think we paying for this shit?" I could see Malakai give me a look from the corner of my eye, but just continued to grill Peggy.
Her smile faltered, "Well I...y-yes, you owe for the night-"
"Well Peggy, I hate to disappoint, but we're not. This is by far the worst service my husband and I have come across in a while. You got some nerve asking for a penny after them damn roaches I found in the shower yesterday."
She gasped, "Well I-"
"And don't even get me started on that stale ass breakfast from this morning. You be cookin' with your feet?"
"No! That's-"
"As a matter of fact, baby give me your phone. You're on Yelp right? I think this place needs a new rating." Malakai went along with it, reaching in his pocket to retrieve his phone.
"No wait! Please don't go on Yelp, I'm terribly sorry for all your troubles. In fact, your stay is on me, free of charge." I gave her a warm smile.
"Why thank you Peggy. Maybe we'll be seein' you." I continued out of the door while everyone in the front room stood there in shock. When we got to the car I expected Malakai to be furious with me. Instead of accusing me of being the heartless bitch I was, he stood there gazing at me in awe. "What?" I leaned against the car.
He just shook his head, "Damn, I love you."
I gave him a sly grin, "Does this mean my baby ain't mad at me no more?" He started inching closer towards me gripping my waist in both hands.
"Naw, I still wanna rock yo' shit." He mumbled. I just giggled and he bent down to kiss me.
Before he could I stopped him, "Malakai I'm so sorry. What I pulled was selfish as fuck and I want you to go back home. I'll go with Castillo if I have to."
He looked at me like I lost my mind, "I'm not going Ny. I said some stupid shit yesterday, but I meant it when I said I'm not leaving you. We'll figure it out."
I blinked back tears and my smile deepened. This time when he bent down to kiss me I let him. Our lips connected and I got up on my tippy toes to wrap my arms around him. He picked me up and set me on the hood of the car. I moaned into his mouth as he entwined his tongue with mine.
His mouth tasted like mint, probably toothpaste. Malakai's grip on my waist was tight and he abruptly broke the kiss we were both breathing hard and grinning at each other. I was broken from my trance by the two girls from earlier. They were mean mugging me from the house and talking back and forth between one another. Malakai noticed I was staring and turned to see for himself. He chuckled lowly and looked back at me, "Let's go mama."
I smiled at him, the girls completely forgotten. "Aight."
He gave me one last squeeze before I hopped of off the car. "You gettin' thicker."
I stuck my tongue out at him and we got in. Forty minutes later we were cruising down the highway. Malakai occasionally glanced down at his phone where the map was. "What about Atlanta?"
I sucked on my cherry slushy from the gas station, feet on the dashboard. "Ion know. I think we should move west. What'chu think about nipple piercings?"
He threw me a quick glance. "Baby, i'm good."
"Not you dickhead, I'm talking about me. I really want nipple piercings." I bit my lip, thinking about it.
"Do what you want, but you know I'm not about to complain." I rolled my eyes and tossed my slushy out of the window, snickering when it hit the hood of the car in the next lane. "Aye, can you behave?" Malakai shook his head.
"No."
He nodded his head in realization. "Ok I got the next stop."
"Yeah what?" I said in curiosity.
"Los Angeles."
