"Been on another level
Since you came
No more pain
look into my eyes
You can't recognize my face..."
~The Weeknd

I finished releasing the contents of my stomach in the toilet and flushed, sitting on top of it. My cranium felt as if it was going to explode with all of the pulsating that was going on inside of it. I moaned and managed to stumble over to my medicine cabinet for an Alka Seltzer tablet.

Two weeks.

That's how long it'd been since Malakai had bothered to even send me a text. When I had woke up the next morning he was gone, leaving only his black hoodie behind.

I wore it now, along with just a pair of grey boy shorts.

At first I had thought he was finally done. That he had finally got what he wanted and was finished using me. The thought had tormented me for days on end and for the longest I would drown myself in dejection and liquor for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

But now looking into the mirror I realized there had to be some deeper shit going on here.

I tried to remember what happened the last night I'd seen him. Something I said or did to make him ignore me for weeks now, but my head was so foggy at this point in time I knew it wasn't going to happen.

In the two weeks I hadn't seen him I'd gone to school four times hoping he'd show up, but he was never there. It was unlike him, being that graduation was in less than three weeks.

I had thought about going over to his house several times, but whatever was going on, I knew it wasn't my business. I washed my face, and dug through my dirty clothes for a halfway clean pair of jeans. I searched around the kitchen until I found a bottle of Bacardi. I held my phone between my shoulder and ear so I could twist the cap off and take a swig while I patiently waited for King to pick up.

The liquor made its way down my throats with a soothing warmth and I shivered as my brain started to slip back into a hazy state. The trembling in my fingers finally started to subside.

"Yo Ny, what the hell? You can't call nobody girl? It's been mad long."

"Can you take me to the Bronx?" I took another sip.

"You can't get your boyfriend to do it?" He mumbled. I thought I heard a girl in the background.

At first I assumed he was talking about Malakai till I realized he'd never even seen him. "Uh no, I think Castillo's out of state. Shouldn't you know, being his business partner?"

In fact I was almost certain he had come by days ago to warn me he'd be gone for a while, and that he'd leave behind bodyguards to protect me. That seemed like ages ago.

"We keep in contact when we need to. I'm on my way."

By the time he called me downstairs I had already poured myself a flask and tucked it away in Malakai's hoodie. I walked out the front door to see cops up and down the hallway.

"Excuse me? Ma'am, do you know of the man who owns this building?"

I slid my eyes to the pig in the blue suit.

"No. Excuse me, I'm going out."

But he didn't move.
