"I can get us in at noon for tomorrow." I said, scrolling away at my phone.

"That's great baby, go get your bags out of the room please." Malakai was all over the place, throwing shit in a suitcase and making sure there was barely a trace of us anywhere in the house. You wouldn't be able to tell we lived here at this point.

We were driving to Sierra, Nevada for our ceremony.

Cliché, I know but he insisted. He also insisted we get married immediately. I sighed and stood to my feet, blocking his pathway.

"Kai."

He simply picked me up by my shoulders and put me to the side. "Excuse me baby." He continued running around get things gathered.

"Malakai." I tried again.

He started bringing bags downstairs, muttering to himself.

I stomped my foot, "Malakai! Fuck!"

"What!?" He yelled back, throwing the bags down.

"What the hell is wrong with you? Why the hell are you acting like we're never coming back?" I snapped. He cursed under his breath and looked down at the floor. "Hey", I said in a much softer tone. I went up to him and grabbed his hand, "What's wrong?"

He finally looked up at me, "We ain't coming back Ny."

I looked at him in alarm, "What? Why not? And you thought it would be a good idea to just not tell me?"

"I think Castillo found us. I didn't wanna tell you before we got married Ny. You don't need that stress on your plate." He finally mumbled. Before I could say anything else, he pulled out his phone and showed me a chilling text from an unknown number.

Found you.

I smacked his chest, "Are you outta your damn mind? Malakai, if we're about to get married then we a motherfucking team, as corny as that sounds. And besides that, I'm the reason we're on the run. If anyone should be stressed, it's me."

He grabbed my face in his hands. "No! I don't want you to worry about this bullshit, I'll handle it."

I walked behind him as he started to pick bags up, "Nigga you're not my daddy, you're my fiancé. And you must be outta your mind if you think I'm letting you do this alone." He stopped and sighed.

"Fine Ny. But we need to keep movin'."

I stuck my tongue out at him and plopped on the couch. I admit I had an attitude, but I liked it here. "Can you get that lazy ass up and help me?" Malakai said with attitude laced in his voice. I turned the TV on and flipped through the channels. I quickly skipped passed the news channel, turning back when I thought I recognized something familiar.

On the screen were two drawings of a male and female. The male had short dark nappy hair, full lips, with a strong jawline and full beard. In each of his ears he had a diamond stud. The female had long curly hair, slightly less full lips, and a smattering of freckles across her nose and cheeks. They were both African American and above the drawings it read WANTED.

I widened my eyes, "Baby! Baby we on the news!"

"What?" He called from the back. He coughed and I figured I had just interrupted a smoke session.

"Come here!"

He carefully made his way downstairs, "What you going on about?"

"Look!" I pointed to the screen and he squinted his eyes.

He sucked his teeth, "Man my nose not that big. Turn it up."

I turned the volume up and we listened. "These two have been dubbed by the Los Angeles Police Department as the modern day Bonnie and Clyde. There are several victims from several different casinos in the area who have come forward claiming that this unknown African American woman seduced them, and then shortly after stole their wallet. Not much is known about the male or his role in these thefts except that he was seen with this woman at the Casino Royale last weekend."
