Friday afternoon was my first round of chemo therapy. We scheduled it for the later afternoon so Ryan could come along, and so I would have some one I knew to stay with me. My mom and dad both had to work early Saturday morning and couldn't take off and my brother had a mandatory baseball practice that he couldn't get out of and since this was my first time getting chemo the doctors wanted me to stay over night to monitor me. So since none of my family could be their Ryan and his mom offered to come stay the night with me.
It was just about time to leave for the hospital and even though my mom and Ryan's mom were both taking their own cars Ryan still decided to ride up there with us. Of course I didn't mind though. I had just put my back pack in the truck and I was about to head back in when Ryan's mom pulled up. "Hi Cj!" She said as her and Ryan got out of the car. " Hi Linda!" I hollered back. "Come inside my mom is almost ready then we can head out." I said heading towards the front door. I went inside and plopped down on the couch and pulled my tank out of the way. When Ryan walked in he had a small gift bag with him. I looked at him suspiciously eyeing the bag. "I got you a little something." He said blushing and handing the bag over. I took the bag and pulled out the real tissue paper. I reached back in to bag and pulled out three new bennies and two them were of them were Twentyone Pilots and the other one was a Foll Out Boy one! I was so excited!! I jumped up and hugged Ryan. "Thankyou!! I love them!" I yelled as I hugged him. "Well most heat is lost through the head and given you current 'hair' style I thought you may need something to keep warm." He said pulling away from the hug and doing air quotes when he said hair. I playfully slapped his arm and grabbed one of the bennies and put it on. The one I grabed was basic black and had the Twentyone Pilots logo on it I grabbed the FOB one as well so I can wear it tomorrow.
After I had gotten my little gift put away in my room we were ready to head to the hospital. It was only 5:15 so the sun was still out which was nice. On the way there we stopped to grab tacos for dinner. Once we arrived at the hospital it was only 7:45, my mom had found some back roads to cut some time off the trip. We walked in and were immediately greeted by my doctors. He lead us to my room so we could set down our stuff then he left for a few minutes and came back with a wheel chair. "Are you ready to go miss Cj?" He asked motioning to the wheel chair I sighed as I stood up saying "I guess." I walked over to my mom and hugged her because she was about to leave and head back home. Then as I walked by Ryan he gently ( emphasis On gently) grab and pulled on my arm and spun me around. "I'll see you in a little bit ok?" He said then pecked a quick kiss on my nose. I smiled and nodded then walked over to my wheel and chair and my doctor rolled me out.
Chemo took longer that I thought it would but when I got back to my room I was exhausted. The doctors told me I should expect to be tired but I didn't know it would be this bad. When I got to the my room Linda was asleep on a chair and Ryan was sitting on the hospital bed on his phone. When he head me come in he looked up "Hey. How ya feeling?" He said quietly not wanting to wake his mom up. "Tiered." I said grabbing my pjs and heading to the bathroom to change. I came out and Ryan was getting an episode of friends set up on the tv in my room. "Would you like me to move so you can go to sleep?" He asked. Usally I wouldn't mind sitting with him and watching tv but right now I was exhausted so I just nodded. I could tell he was a it hurt. "I'm sorry I'm just exhausted and want a good nights sleep." I said fighting the urge not to yawn. "No don't be sorry, I understand." He said getting him self situated on his cot. I layed down and was instantly asleep. "Goodnight, love." Was the last thing I head from Ryan.
I woke up a few hours later to people rushing around me, my parents were here, Linda was here and Ryan was sitting in a chair with his knees up to his chest crying clinging to the Bennie he got me last night. What was going on? I finally realized that all the people around me were doctors. The next thing I knew I was being rushed out of my room, down the hall, into an elevator and into an OR.
