Luke grabbed his sword and led me out of the room. We walked down the corridor until we got to a white door.
"I think I'll check if he's ready for you, they might not be finished." He smiled evilly. "And don't bother trying to escape, you won't get far." He nodded to the guard standing next to me and walked into the room.
I pressed my ear against the door.
"Has he talked?" Asked Luke.
"We've been trying for hours, he won't break." Said another demigod.
I breathed a sigh of relief. Our mission wasn't jeopardized after all.
I heard the loud, sharp sound of a hard lash followed by an agonizing cry.
"I'm giving you one last chance." Snarled a guard.
"And I won't talk, you can't make me!" Shouted Ethan. "I'm not weak, and you guys won't make me snap!" He yelled.
Another lash sounded and I heard Ethan scream. I found myself trying to pry the door open. My fists pounded against the cold hard metal. "Let me in, you coward!" I didn't think they could hear me over the sounds of Ethan's screams..
(Oh Ethan I'm so sorry.) I thought as the door swung open and the guard finally pushed me in.
The room was horrifying. There was one lightbulb hanging from the ceiling. The walls were black and lined with chains. There were various knives, swords, and other weapons. the floor was dirty. with every step you took, you kicked up dust. There were chairs seated by guards facing a main prisoner.
Luke smiled evilly. "Comfortable Ethan?" He asked mockingly sympathetically.
"Not particularly." Said Ethan staring at Luke with a look of loathing of such intensity I'd never seen before. There were red slashes up and down his skin.
Luke walked toward Ethan, obviously enjoying his pain. He walked in a slow circle around him, watching him closely. I was scared, Ethan looked really broken down.
Ethan was chained to the wall by his wrists. His clothing was tattered and his fingers were bloody. I noticed shards sticking out under his fingernails. He looked petrified. As if he were looking into hell itself. He was breathing heavily, and his eyes had a sort of glassy, cloudy look to them. It was absolutely frightening.
"Ethan." I ran over to him and hugged him. He groaned and clenched his teeth. I ran a hand along his chest ever o slightly. It was covered scrapes, lash marks, bruises and blood. He looked up at me, his eyes full of hurt. I felt horrible, Luke had put him through so much and he stayed quiet to protect me.
I suddenly knew that they had tortured him emotionally not just physically. I couldn't imagine what he'd been put through. One thing was for sure, Ethan was definitely stronger than I had ever thought possible.
Ethan's eyes were wide. "Pamela!" he looked to Luke. "I warned you Castellan!" He thrashed against his bonds.
Luke put an arm around my shoulder. "I hope this little present makes you reconsider. " his eyes narrowed. Luke pushed me into Ethan.
I ran a hand along Ethan's cheek. There were a number of cuts along his arms and face.
I looked up to see Luke's haughty smile. "What did you do to him!"
"The precautionary measures." Answered one of the guards. "He wouldn't cooperate."
"I told them whatever it takes, and that's just what they intend to do." Said Luke, sounding bored, like if none of us were on the ground begging for mercy in the next ten minutes, the day would be wasted.
