Naruko pov

Before I could comprehend what happened it was too late. I stood frozen as I watched him crumble down in front of me. Dozens of needles stuck out of his body as I watched him struggle for air. I rushed towards him and felt my knees give out from underneath me.

"Sasuke." I whispered still not being able to wrap my mind around what was currently happening. I felt warmth trail down my face and liquid splatter on my hand.

"Oi. Don't cry dobe." He heaved out as he reached up to wiped my tears away. "My body moved on its own." He said with a small smile. A heart wrenching pain filled my body as I stared down at his form. What could I do to take the needles out? I took hold of one but he grabbed onto my hand. "There's no point." He sighed. He quickly began to cough up blood as his body started to convulse. How could this happen? This was all my fault. I pulled his body into mine and wrapped my arms around his shaking body.

"Sasuke. I won't let you go." I said trying not to let my voice waver. "You're all I have."

"Naruko. Thank you. Thank you for being my friend. Even when I tried to push you away you always came bounding back to me with that idiotic smile on your face. After the massacre I thought I lost my whole family, but now I realise that you were always here. You are my family. Do all the things you want to do in life. Live for me too. I want you to take my eyes. Naruko. So at least I can still be a part of your life. Use this power wisely." He said as a smile stretched across his face.  "I guess I'll never be able to avenge my clan." He said with a broken sigh. His face scrunched up as I could see him struggling to keep his tears in. A choked sob tore its way out of my throat as I could almost feel the pain he was in. He was asking me to take his eyes. The one part of him that he took the most pride in. I begged him not to say that. Not to let it sound like a goodbye.

Third person pov

Naruko continued to grip onto Sasuke's body as the battle around them continued to rage on. Sakura heard a loud wail from inside the ice dome as her heart began to pound rapidly in her chest. She gripped tightly onto her kunai, debating whether or not she should leave her client.

"You can go." The old man said with a frown. "I'm afraid that sounded a lot like one of your team members." After hearing that she immediately dashed forward and threw her kunai at the dome. Before it could make contact the dome shattered into millions of tiny ice crystals. She saw the masked person standing alone at the centre while gripping tightly onto the needles in his hands. The boy never meant to cause any severe damage but Sasuke did something he did not expect. The masked boy turned to look at Sakura and pointed at the 2 figures on the ground. She stood frozen in shock at the sight in front of her. Naruko had silent tears streaming down her face as she shook Sasuke furiously. He had a distant look in his eye and his body had turned an inhumanly shade of white. A hand flew over her mouth as she made a desperate run towards them. She dropped onto the ground and pushed Naruko's hands away from Sasuke.

"Sasuke. Please wake up!" She screamed.

Naruko pov

"We meet here today to honour and pay tribute to the life of Sasuke, and to express our love and admiration for him. Also to try to bring some comfort to those of his friends and comrades who are here and have been deeply hurt by his sudden death."

I couldn't bear to hear anymore. This can't be real. I observed Sasuke's face through the thin layer of glass, staring at his peaceful expression. I clenched my hands tightly and gripped onto my orange jumpsuit. I was the only one not wearing black. Some people think I'm a brat for not accepting his death, for disrespecting him at his final goodbye. But I can't help it. Sasuke. The only person who wouldn't look at me like I was some kind of monster. How can he be gone?

Hokage pov

I stared at the grim faces of my children but my eyes were soon drawn back to the single child that stood out like a sore thumb. Her blue eyes that always shined brightly were clouded and unfocused. I looked closer to see flecks of red and black in her eye. That's why Sasuke didn't have eyes when we got his body back. You see Sasuke wasn't as cold hearted as everyone thought he was. He still wanted to be a part of Naruko's life even when he wasn't in this world anymore. The wide grin that everyone thought was tattooed onto Naruko's face was not present for once. A dark aura surrounded the girl and I could feel the enormous guilt that seemed to weigh her down. I suddenly saw bits of orange chakra surround her body, accompanied by the murderous intent. Before anyone could realise I flashed next to her and grabbed her arm before teleporting away.

"Naruko." I shouted trying to wake her up from the trance like state she was in. A sudden pain shot through my hand as I released her quickly. I looked at my hand to see minor burn marks begin to appear. The kyuubi's chakra. The kyuubi was taking advantage of the weak state of mind she was in and was trying to take over her body. I saw 4 orange tails appear behind her. Her eyes quickly changed from her own shade to completely red. Her teeth elongated and the stripes on her face became more defined. I watched in utter horror as her skin began to peel, revealing a red surface beneath it. A dark black dome appeared around her as I quickly jumped and kicked it. A small crack appeared on the hard surface but it soon repaired itself. If this continued Naruko would be completely taken over by the kyuubi. I sighed knowing that I would regret doing this later but quickly summoned a scroll. To save the village I must. Naruko I promise I'll find a way to let you return. I'm sorry. With that thought I made the hand signs and Naruko disappeared in a puff of smoke.
