Third person pov

The room was silent. Absolutely silent for once. The young girl pointlessly continued to try to get her voice out that seemed to be stuck in her throat. The boys were in a similar state of panic as they too struggled to utter a word. Finally they all gave up and Kurapika motioned for them to gather around in a circle. He quickly started to make some vigorous hand gestures but immediately clutched his head in pain. He felt as if a shock of electricity was being passed through his brain, freezing his trail of thoughts.

"What did I say. No communication." The same voice said from before, "are you that desperate to be disqualified?" All of them shook their head with wide eyes. They looked at each other before quickly averting their gaze as laughter echoed the room, creating a bubbling annoyance in Naruko. She cursed the voice in her head and bit her lip frustratedly. A loud rumbling noise brought Naruko's attention back to the room as she looked to see a part of the brick wall rising up. Behind the brick wall was a door with another screen with writing on it.

The writing. I can't read it. I approached the door and desperately tried to assume what it said or at least get an idea of the content but was unsuccessful. I looked at the boys beside me who all then seemed to realise that I couldn't read the writing. Leorio scratched the back of his head and let out a silent sigh. The only thing I could do now is hope for the best.

I looked down at the circle and cross on my watch, debating which one to choose. It had to be the circle right? Because the circle usually means correct which is a positive way of thinking. We have to start positive right? But maybe they're trying to trick me! I smiled in triumph at figuring out their plan before confidently pressing the cross on my watch. I looked at the screen which revealed the number four beside the circle and the number one beside the cross. I suddenly felt a large hand on my head as I turned around to see the murderous face of Leorio. His hand clenched around my head tightly as over exaggerated tears streamed down my face. I tried to shout out apologies which died on my tongue pointlessly. I looked at Gon pleadingly as he just gave me sheepish smile while he continued to stand there. The door opened behind us, distracting Leorio, allowing me to escape through the door. It led to another room which had two bars on each side of them, showing two different routes. Footsteps followed behind me as they stopped beside me. I was wrong last time but it's majority against minority right? So even if I get it wrong it shouldn't matter. I quickly pressed the circle on my watch this time, changing the screen to three beside the circles and two beside the cross. The bars on the right side swung open as we walked through it. The hall was dimly lit with small torches as I prayed we chose the right way.

"Alright. I'm lifting the communication restriction for this part." The voice said as I felt the lump in my throat clear up. I let out a cough, clearing my throat as I tested my voice out.

"This is so dumb dattebyo!" I shouted out, causing my voice echo around the narrow hallway.

"You're too loud!" Kurapika said with an equally as noisy voice. I smiled brightly at him before making exaggerated hand gestures at him. He buried his face in his palms while muttering something about someone being an 'idiot'. I'm glad he's not talking about me. Behind me Killua, Gon and Leorio were making different noises, almost sounding as if they were constipated. I laughed loudly before telling them that, earning me multiple hits to the head. We continued to walk before we ended up in a wide arena. There was a large gap between our side and the centre of the square as I peered over the edge. It was completely dark as I struggled to see the bottom of the ground. I heard the sound of metal hitting the ground and I looked up to see multiple people on the other side who all wore tattered cloaks. A figure stepped forward as they removed their cloak, revealing a heavily built man with multiple scars littering his body.
