Alec's POV:
I woke up panicked to Cain choking me again. He slammed me against the wall, taking the breath right out of me and possibly even cracking more of my ribs. I would of screamed but he was suffocating me. Sharp pain flooded back into my body as I was being shackled once more.
"If I have to come in here one more time, I'm taking a gun to your head." he said through his teeth, spitting on my face. He slapped me hard before walking out, slamming the door again behind him. I had no strength left in me. The shackles held all my weight as I hung there on my knees. I was barely conscious when I heard a soft voice out of the shadows. That was the only thing that kept me from fading out again.
"Alec.." the voice whispered as it grabbed a hold of my face. It was a soothing voice. Almost angelic, but there was sadness behind the voice. But I knew that voice anywhere. That was my girl. I picked my head up and squinted to see a dark figure with an adorably messy new hair cut. The light shined behind her, creating a halo around her silhouette. I was trying to figure out if I was dying or already in heaven.
"Marcie?" I barely managed to call out. She wrapped her arms around me, my whole body stinging but I didn't care. I just laid my head on her shoulder and closed my eyes.
"Alec! Alec!" the voice whispered out into the darkness. It was the sweetest sound, a lullaby through the atmosphere.
"Alec! Alec!" the voice called again a little louder this time.
"Wake up, Alec" another voice called. A deeper, even more familiar voice. My eyes fluttered open slowly as I feel the cold ground underneath me. I was out of the shackles once more and now there were two dark figures hovering above me. It took my eyes a minute to adjust to the low lighting and I finally made out two faces. Marcie and Jackson were starring down at me with worried faces.
"Is he back?" Jackson asked out loud as Marcie pulled my body up close to hers.
I reached out for her face just to make sure she was real. I brushed my hand across her wet cheek as she closed her eyes and smiled.
"Is that you, Marcie?" I asked her again hoping for an answer.
"Yes, Alec" she whispered softly through her tears. She rubbed her thumb over my forehead sending chills through my body.
"Cain told me you were dead." I whispered still not believing all this was actually happening.
"No, babe I'm right here. I'm okay." she assured me as she kissed my forehead, yet again sending chills through out my body. I signed in relief as if I couldn't breath until I made sure she was okay. I just began to cry. I know I had an image to uphold but I couldn't help myself. I just broke down in relief and she just held me.
"Jackson brought me here." she stated in a serious voice. So he did help her after all. "We don't have much time, Alec. We have a plan. We're going to kill Cain." she said like it was nothing but her words shocked me.
"Hold on just a second, Marcie. Alec needs to get to a hospital." Jackson suggested cutting her off like she wasn't important. "He can barely stay conscious."
I ignored everything Jackson said. I had to with the bomb shell that Marcie just dropped. I didn't think she would ever say something so harsh.
"Kill Cain? You can't do that." I said softer than I wanted.
"Look what he did to you, Alec! He deserves to suffer. Jackson is going to help me and then well come back for you we promise."
Jackson and Marcie started whispering to each other and I couldn't make out what anyone was saying. It seemed like they were arguing but I lost interest. I just closed my eyes tight and tried to forget about the pain I was in. I thought about me and Marcie escaping from here and running far away were no one would ever bother us again. It would just be us two and that seemed like heaven for me.
Marcie's POV:
"I don't know if we should go through with this Marcie. Look at him, he's barely hanging on. If we leave he'll be gone before we even get back, if we even do that is. You're talking about a very dangerous man, Marcie. One of the most powerful people in the whole country. Don't you think we should get Alec some help?" Jackson was rambling on but all I could do was look at Alec.
"Look what he did to him, Jackson. He needs to pay for it." I demanded wiping a few tears from my face.
Jackson looked at Alec like he was looking at a dead body. He knew I was right but he wouldn't admit it.
"Look, lets just get him to a hospital. He'll be safe there. We can just tell the doctors everything. They'll send police to handle it all. Trust me they've been looking for him for decades. Please just listen to me." he begged keeping his gaze on Alec.
"Fine. But only for Alec's sake." I finally agreed and with that he picked Alec's body off the ground like he weighed nothing and walked over to the door.
"We can't be seen." he whispered.
