Alec's POV:
I woke up to a stinging bright light, they made my eyes water. I shuffled my legs underneath a heavy white quilt. I looked over to see Marcie squeezing my hand in a poorly padded chair.
"Oh Alec, you have no idea how happy I am to see you awake." she said squeezing my hand even tighter and pushing tears out of her eyes.
I looked around to see Jackson and a middle aged nurse standing at the foot of the bed.
"Hi, honey. I'm going to run some short tests on you, it will only take a minute." she said shining a small, hand held light in my eyes and writing something down on a clip board. "Can you tell me your name?"
"Alec." I spoke softly as Marcie rubbed my hand with her thumb.
"Okay and how old are you, Alec?"
"28."
"Okay, do you know what happened?" she said taking the oxygen mask off my face carefully. I just looked around at everyone which pretty much answered that question.
"You've got some nice friends here, young man. They brought you in on foot. You were in pretty bad condition. They said you were shackled in an abandoned warehouse and nearly beaten to death. Do you remember any of this, sweetie?" she smiled at me encouragingly letting me know everything would be okay.
"Yes." I whispered. Looking back freaked me out.
"Okay." she said lifting her glasses closer to her face and reading off of her clip board. "You suffered from multiple shattered ribs, a brain contusion and multiple lashes across the body. Now.. your hand was broken long before this accident?" she asked as if all that information wasn't enough for me to process. Marcie finally answered after a couple seconds of me just looking around dazed.
"Yes." her voice rang softly through my ears.
"Okay, sweetie?" the nurse called for my attention as she placed a hand on my shoulder. "You've been in a coma for thirty-four days. Don't worry, you will be fine, dear. Do you understand everything I've told you?"
I just nodded softly, the bandages around my head creating static with the bed sheets. After that, she left the room still looking at her clip board. Marcie leaned over and placed a soft kiss on my cheek.
"How do you feel?" Jackson wondered, still standing at the foot of the bed. I ignored him.
"Marcie, I'm so sorry. I had no idea any of that was going to happen the way it did. I don't even know what to say I-" she hushed me right up by giving me a tingling kiss on my lips this time.
"I know, Alec. Jackson explained everything to me. Don't worry I'm not mad at you." her words comforted me. I gave her a forced half smile and closed my eyes.
"So, yeah. I'm still here and you haven't answered my question yet." Jackson said jokingly. "Your best friend wants to know how you're feeling."
"Like shit." I laughed. It was the first time I laughed in a long time. Then it dawned on me that I didn't know the real story behind everything. "Did you guys.."
"What, kill Cain?" Jackson interrupted me excitedly. "Yeah, we snuck a bomb in his conference room and blew him to pieces!" he said a little too loud, using his arms to explain just how big the explosion was. I was shocked honestly.
"Wait, where the fuck did you get a bomb?" I wondered kind of laughing at the thought
"He's lying." Marcie said with a stern look at Jackson.
"Okay, maybe it didn't happen exactly like that. We actually had to sneak out first and bring you here cause you were about to like, die and stuff." he said that sentence like it was a hassle for him which made me laugh again. Jackson always knew how to turn a serious situation into bull shit. "Then we ganged up with the S.W.A.T. team and when in there with guns blazing!" he shouted, jumping up out of his chair. Marcie shoved him over with an angry look on her face.
"Wrong!" she huffed. "The S.W.A.T. team did show up to the warehouse though. They arrested everyone, including Cain."
"What about us?" I wondered looking at Jackson nervously. "We were just as much apart of that as everyone else."
"You got off with a technicality. They deemed you guys victims along with me, and said you guys would get away with no charges. In other words, y'all are lucky pieces of shit!" she said with a smile on her face. Her smile was contagious. "As of now, Cain was put in a maximum security prison and charged for drug kingpin and the abduction of over one thousand young women." she stated like a news reporter.
"Yeah, and you wana know the best part?" Jackson grinned from ear to ear, barely able to keep the news to himself. "There was a reward for finding Cain, five-hundred thousand big ones!" he yelled, jumping out of his chair again. I was breathless. Five-hundred thousand dollars?
"Please tell me he's not lying again." I huffed, not able to believe it.
"No, he's actually telling the truth. For once!" Marcie gave Jackson a death stare.
"Wow. That's a lot of money. That'll be just enough to pay off all the damages and therapists visits." I said smiling.
"Whoa, Whoa. I was the one that saved you. Do you know how stressful it was carrying your heavy ass dead-weight through the halls of Cains warehouse? If anyone should get it, it should be me. Ya bud was wore the fuck out!" he gloated as Marcie punched him in the arm.
*BREAKING NEWS*
"The alleged drug kingpin known by the name of 'Cain' has just escaped California's Maximum Security Prison. We are here with a guard that saw the whole thing go down. What do you have to say about?"
"It was crazy to say the least, Cheryl. I was walking through the halls just making my rounds and his cell was empty. Just empty. The door was open, still swinging Cheryl! I called all guards and no one had any sight of him! Nothing was destroyed, no signs of any manipulation with equipment or weapons. It's like he disappeared!"
"You heard it here first. Well have more on this story as it unfolds. If you have any information please call our crime line."
There was a really long silence as all of us just starred at each other.
"Uhh.." I was choked for words. I looked at Jackson and Marcie who were both just looking at me as if I knew what to do. "How about Paris?" I said kind of chuckling as Marcie's eyes lit up.
