POV Magnus
“Why were you at school? Raphael, when you’re sick you need to stay home.”
“You’re not my mom, mags. I can take care of myself. I only came because she… sent me” We are almost home by now, we are getting off the last bus stop and are walking the last couple of blocks home.“Why would she do that?”
“Well... ya see…she might of-”
“ no.” i start running to the house.
“Mags. don’t” i heard raphael yell, but he’s too late I’m at the door.
The door is unlocked.
Ralphie really needs to learn how to use a key. I walk in, i see broken glass on the floor and there’s a dent in the wall from where the glass probably hit. I turn the corner and see mom laying on the floor. “mom?” i whisper “you okay?” i walk over to her. I move the hair off her face and i can smell the alcohol in her breath as she mumbles my name. “yes mom?” more mumbling. “Mom! You said you wouldn’t. You had ralph-”
“I said Get Out Of My HOUSE!” i stumble backwards into the wall. She gets up staggering on the table while attempting to spit at my feet. “I don't want you in my house again. You piece of shit. You are just a reminder of why he left me. You look just like him too you worthless a... Y...you are going to leave me ANYWAYS! Leave, GO! I don’t want you here anymore. You are just a reminder of what we could have been, Of who i was, WHAT I LOST. He couldn’ e..even…” she started slipping off the counter to fall back on the floor. I went to help her up again.
She threw the pungent liquid at my face. “DON’T touch ME! You are filth! If you want to go to your stupid school then you can’t live in this house. You aren’t allowed to have the things you stole from me.” At this point i’m crying. It’s never been this bad before. I take ralphie's hand and start to walk to our room.
“No” she wails and starts crawling to raphael “he stays. he listens to me, he loves me, don’t you sweetheart? You love your momma” her voiced turned sickeningly sweet with a grin
Raphael looks at me with scared eyes then responds “Of course mom”
He lets go of my hand and takes hers.Cradling her while she cries into his chest. I feel betrayed. I walk just walk out the door. Soon ralphie climbs out the window and hands me a bag full of my stuff.
“I'll take care of her” he says. I can’t look at him. He looks too apologetic.
“I wish you would let me take care of you.”
“I’ll be okay. What’s the worst that will happen?”
“You could starve to death.”
“I’ll get food.”
“With what money?”
“I’ll get a job.”
“Where?”
“Don’t know yet.”
“Please… just find me if she does anything, promise”
“Promise” he climbs back in the house and i walk down to the bus station.
Now where am i going to go…i couldn’t even make a home here.
