chapter 14

Pov Magnus

"Your such an idiot”

“Heh”

“Hey baby?”

He blushes and responds, “yea?”

“Can.. can we go see raphie?”

“Oh, yea. We gotta get him his food anyway.”

I smile, i’m excited to see him, i hope mom hasn’t done anything to bad.

We pull up outside the house. The house i finally escaped. Alexander looks at me worried. I give him a shy smile and get out of the car walking to my old bedroom window. I look into the room me and him shared. I don’t see anyone inside, so i climb in through the window and into the room. I place his treat on his pillow, then look around the room. This room triggers memories i don’t want to remember. I hear the floor outside the door creak. A creak in the floor that has saved me many times, a warning that someone is coming. I duck to hide in the nearby empty closet. I hold my breath in the dark of the small space. All of a sudden the door to the closet swings open. I gasp. Ralphie hugs me. Tight. “How’d you know i was here?”

“I found the treat and the widow was still open, so i hoped you were still here” he mumbles into my chest. “I missed you Mags.”

“I missed you too Ralphie.” i hear him sniffle. “Ralphie?” i try to look at his face and he just squeezes tighter. “Ralphiel.” i saw slightly stricter. He looks at me eyes swollen with tears and a slight red mark on his cheek. “Oh ralphie i'm so sorry, i shouldn't have left you here.”

“No, it's okay really. It's not that bad. She was just mad because.. i asked if i could see you..”

I give a slight smile and look at him worriedly.

“Hey ralphie?” he looks up at me, “wanna come see where i’m staying?”

“Really?” he looks at me questionably.

“Im she alec sister will love you, and give you all the treats you want.” he smiles at that and agrees to go, he says mom passed out and wouldn’t wake up for a couple hours, and wouldn’t care if he left anyway. We both climb out the window and make our way to alexander’s car.

I let ralphie sit in the front with alec, and slide into the back.

“Looks like we picked up a straggler?”

“Oh.. is that okay?” ralphie says nervously,

“Its no problem, izzy might smuggle you though.” ralphie looks scared for a split second before alec explains that his sister loves little kids.

We get back to alexander’s house, ralphie looked shell shocked. I wonder if i looked like that when i first got here?

“You live here?” he looks at me.

“Yea.. i mean temporarily.” after we park in the garage, ralphie practically runs into the house, “Ralphie! I'm sorry about this”

“It's okay magnus. I can’t blame him for being a kid. It’s what he is.”

“Yea, sometime i forget that..”

We walk into the house and see ralphie standing in awe at the bottom of the stairs/middle of the kitchen, “your house is so big!”

Alec giggles, “Hey izzy! Come meet magnus’ lil brother!”

She appears at the top of the stairs, “What was that alec- oh my gosh he's so cute!” she smiles and practically skips down the stairs, wrapping ralphie in her arms, and putting a big red kiss mark on his cheek.

“AHH!”

“Oh sorry,” she put him down, “hi I’m izzy, Alecs sister.”

“Im Magnus’ little brother, Ralphiel.” he says wiping his cheek, only spreading the matte lipstick onto his hand and more of his face.

“Come on,” say alec, “let's go upstairs to my old room and watch a movie.” izzy tries to follow “just us izz.”

“Oh fine.” she huffs.

We head upstairs to my room aka alexander’s old room. He walks over to the shelves and picks out the movies ring from before. Ralphie picks out The Nightmare Before Christmas by Tim Burton, it’s one of his favorites. I show ralphie where the restroom is, so he can wash off the evidence isabel left. I walk back into the room and see alexander sitting back on the bed like he was the first night i stayed here, with his back to the head board. “Thank you alexander.”

He looks up at me, “for what?”

“For welcoming ralphie in here, for letting me stay here, for.. For all of it.” i start tearing up.

“Hey?” he says standing up and moving towards me. “Hey?” he whispers. I look up at him and give a shy smile. “Come here” he picks me up and sits on the bed. I turn so i’m facing him.

“You know that Ralphie can come over whenever he wants, i'm sure I would adopt him if she could. And you will be welcomed into this house as long as i’m living in it, okay?... Okay.”

I wipe my eyes and say okay, holding him closer to me. He pulls back a bit, leans down and kisses me.

“So when did this happen?” i hear ralphie ask.

“Oh uh um..” alec mumbles, pulling away.

“Officially? Today.” i simply respond.

“And you guy still came to see me?”

“Yep.”

“And you were okay with that?” he asks alec

“Um.. yes.”

“Wow..”

“Well we got the movie set up.. Ready to watch..”

Ralphies face automatically lights up, “yea!” he sit on the floor in front of the tv, with his back against the bed, me and alec reposition ourselves so we can both see the screen.

By the end of the movie, ralphie had moved into the bed to sit between my legs, now both he and alec were asleep. I could help but think that this is how a family was supposed to be like.. And with that thought I drifted off myself..
