26. Rossi-Fremont

(Tiffany's view)

I open my eyes slowly, waking up from a long dream. My room is brighten up with the sunlight, which makes it get warmer. I look to the side and find Jacks' still sleeping. The anxiety on his face had faded away. He looks like an angel right now.

I look at the clock on my desk, it's 6:00 a.m.

I get out of bed quietly, avoiding waking him up. And then I take up my cellphone. There is one message from Teresa. It says, 'Hey Tiff! How was it going? Did you meet him and speak to him? BTW, we both have class at 9:00 tomorrow, how about having breakfast together? Let's go to the restaurant like usual! I'll wait for you there by 8. XOXO'

Oh, I almost forgot! I have class today. Maybe I can take Jacks with me. Teresa will be glad to see him.

After texting her back, I walk to the living room. However, I'm shock and almost scream out when I see a guy sitting on the sofa. But I sigh for relief as I recognize that it's Aiden.

Why he's here? Is he asleep?

He's sitting on the sofa, holding his cellphone. But his head was lowing down. He didn't even take off his hat.

I walk to him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Aiden..."

He's awaken with shock. I say to him with a smile, "Good morning."

(Aiden's view)

I fell asleep! How could I...

I can't believe I just fell asleep like this. And the worst is, she saw everything!

Recall to last night, I drove to meet Jordi and negotiated something about Maurice. After that, it was already 10:00 p.m. Knowing that Jacks was about to stay at Tiffany's house, I decided to buy something as gift for him, and for her, too.

I stand up quickly and scratch my hair, "Sorry about breaking into your house again. I want to see you and Jacks last night, but no one came to the door when I knocked it. So I came in by myself-- then I found out that you both slept."

She nods her head and smiles, "It's useful, huh?" She points at the phone.

"Old trouble..." I say with a smile.

"You must be tired." She leads me to the bedroom, "Jacks' here, and still sleeping. Go ahead! I'll bring you a cup of tea, or you prefer coffee?"

"I'll have coffee, thanks." I walk to the bed, and reach to touch Jacks' hair. He seems sleep really well. Maybe he's having a sweet dream 'cause I can see the peace on his face.

"He looks like you in some ways." Tiffany holds the coffee and stands by the door. "Especially the color of the hair."

I take the cup from her and smile, "Yeah..."

"I baked some toasts for you. You must eat something." She says.

I follow her to dining room. There are peanut butter and blue berry jam placed beside the toasts. It makes me realize that how long haven't I have a breakfast like this? A cup of hot coffee, warm toasts, and... a partner. 

She sits next to me and asks, "Have another work to do today?"

"Yeah. I found a bunker, it locates on an island near the Wards. If I can get in, I'll have plenty of equipment and resources to find Nicky." I take out the remote control from my pocket, "--and this can help me get through the bridge. I need to try it..."

She nods her head and says, "You can do it!"

Unlike my sister, Tiffany always supports and encourages me when I'm about to do something like this. I know that Nicky stopped me from doing such dangerous things because she cares about me, but sometimes I just need someone to trust me.
