". . . Long before the kingdom of Mermadia was founded. Our ancestors were water nymphs. Fiery but kind creatures who were greedy of owning the whole water kingdom. But the problem was, they couldn't breath underwater and were powerless against the different kinds of predators that lived under. They would stay at rivers for some time to avoid the dangers of the sea but couldn't resist to stray around seashores every now and then. The sea calls out to them each time. They thought it was a hopeless dream until one day they stumbled upon a very powerful pearl---The Pearl of Peace. It was said to be owned by the goddess Phoenix herself but lost it. The pearl showed them what they can achieve so instead of returning it to the goddess. They became greedy and hide it amongst themselves. It offered them all their dreams but not long after that, the Phoenix found out about it and punished them. Their greed for water was compensated but they were cursed to live underwater thus the birth of Sirens happened. They have legs but won't be able to live on land for too long. The goddess did not take her pearl back but told them that they have to give it to the people who could pass the trials when the time comes. Plus the fact that anything the pearl gives will have something precious in return. She warned them to be careful of what they wished for."

Queen Deborah was lost on her story telling that she was surprised when she saw her daughter started to sit down. Daphne's recuperation was quite astonishing. Deborah hastily offered assistance but her daughter just brushed her hands away. The queen sighed and decided to continue on her story.

"Years passed of peace and contentment amongst the Sirens but it didn't last long as some of them begun to be envious of the royal family that hold on possession of the pearl. The first war erupted which resulted to the division of the clan into two. The royal family, our ancestors, were victorious but surrendered their right of the Pearl to the other half in exchange of freedom from the curse. The Pearl granted their request and punished the other clans with fins thus the birth of Mermadians happened. The Phoenix was disappointed on the war so she gave the Sirens freedom on land, however, warned them that both clans lives were intertwined to each other. The yin and yang occurred between two clans---forever on the other sides of poles but dependent on each other to coexist."

"Wait, what do you mean by coexist?" Daphne interrupted with great apprehension.

"It means that both clans die if they live too far away from each other." The queen answered.

"Oh, so together forever, huh? So that's the royal secret." Was the sarcastic response she received from her daughter that she chose to ignore.

"One of them. Anyway, to continue. . ."

"One of them? Wow, I never thought that there's more. Like, how much more?" Daphne insisted.

Deborah just raise her perfectly arched eyebrow on her stubborn child which automatically shushed her up. It works on Daphne all the time no matter how rebellious she had become.". . . As I was saying, both Sirens and Mermadians decided to live together on an islet. Then again, the peaceful alliance was short lived as the people were fighting on which royals will serve them best. The royals on the other hand didn't care which is which since they're family anyway."

Daphne raised her hand up like a student whose very impatient to ask a question.

"Yes?"

"Family? What do you mean?" She blurted out immediately.

"Let me continue the story and you will know at the end. And yes family, since the Mermadian King mated with the Sirenian Queen and had twin daughters."

"B--but I didn't know this. So where are the children?"

"It's me and Scalia's mother---Sandra. We both had legs but soon we discover that as soon as Sandra touch the water, she grows fins so they decided to let her be with your grandfather and I remained with your grandmother."
