How's it going, guys? Hope you're all doing well! I'm so hyped for the end of the school year!! XD I don't really have much to say except thank you for reading my book and please enjoy Chapter 23!
It gets annoying to keep repeating this, but Fairy Tail belongs to Hiro Trollshima.
I own this book, the cover, and a handful of the characters.
"Wait!"
Carla stopped flying midair and turned around to glance at her teammates. Lucy poked her head through the open window of a building, Erza stepped out of a tool shed, Gray peered over a rooftop, and Happy popped up from inside a dust bin.
"What is it, Carla?" Wendy asked.
Carla flew over and hovered in front of the young dragon slayer. "Wendy! Can YOU track Juvia's scent for us?"
Wendy looked around. Happy, Lucy, Gray, and Erza then came up to her. "That's right!" Erza remarked. "Wendy's keen sense of smell can help us!"
Wendy sniffed, and followed her nose into the central structure of the borderline station. She was about to enter, when she was suddenly stopped by a rough-looking man in a uniform. "Excuse me, young lady. I'm afraid you aren't allowed past this point without validation," he said matter-of-factly. Lucy ran over. "We understand that, sir! But we don't mean any harm! We're just looking for someone!" she pleaded. The man gave her a look. "I'm sure," he said sarcastically. "But rules are rules, and none of you are allowed in here."
Wendy decided that while Lucy tried to persuade him, she would get a better whiff. As subtly as she could, she leaned forward towards the entrance she was being blocked from and took a good long inhale.
The scent definitely leads us here.
Wendy slowly got up. Lucy's speech had slowed down a bit when her eyes met with the glance of the blue-haired girl. She nodded slightly in understanding.
Lucy redirected her attention to the security man. "Sir, if you could step outside for a minute, please?" she asked, sweetly. This earned an expression of confusion from him. He raised his eyebrow. "Nope. I'm perfectly happy standing right here," he said, stubbornly. Lucy mentally groaned. "No, just-I just-my friends and I need to discuss something with you," she said, while gesturing towards Gray and Erza behind her to come. The two looked at each other and obeyed.
Gray gave Lucy a what-are-you-doing look, while she answered with a have-faith look. Erza didn't quite understand, but she decided to play along anyway. "Yes, sir. There's a matter that needs to be attended to. You'd be wise to step out and engage in our conversation."
"Now what could be so important tha-
"Would you just step out already?!" Gray said, glaring at him, but immediately stopped under Lucy and Erza's warning glances towards him. Lucy roughly turned her head back trying to keep her irritation obscure. "Anyway...it's urgent.." she said, now glaring at the borderline guard. The man narrowed his eyes. "And is that anyway to talk to..." he trailed off. Lucy felt a surge of magical power, already recognizing Erza's requip. Whatever she'd done, she'd really scared him. Now, he was slowly approaching them, leaving the door wide open.
Kind of.
The three, including Happy and Carla watching from above, had to conceal their laughter as they watched poor Wendy try to squeeze past the fat man into the scarce space to get in. Her small figure succeeded in getting past without him noticing. Erza slapped an armored hand over her mouth to hold back a snort.
