Numbers Never End

Chapter 18

- Hinata's P.O.V - -Two Days later -

As the day of my surprise trip back home arrived, I felt dread it even more. But I can't chicken out now with it being the day I have to leave. I already promised Natsu that I would come home, I couldn't back out of my promise now. It's that day I have to leave, Natsu expects me.

"Hinata? What's with the bag?" Kageyama broke my train my thought when he spoke up, both breaking the silence and my thoughts.

"Hmm? Oh, I'm going home today, I'll most likely be back home either tonight or tomorrow morning. So please don't stay up so late waiting for me to return." I answered as I went through a mental checklist.

"Can I come with? I mean, it's only natural that I meet your family. Because we are dating." Kageyama threw his arm around my shoulder and pulled me into his side.

"I understand that you want to meet my family but my family is a little... dysfunctional" I hesitated trying to find the right word to describe my broken family.

Kageyama was quiet for a second before kissing my temple, "That's fine by me, but I hope I can meet your family soon. Come back safe and soon."

I just nodded, "I was going to wait until everyone was up so no one has to worry about me, but do you think it'll be okay for me to leave now? Both you and Suga already know im leaving."

"It'll be fine. If you get on the road now, you might miss traffic." Kageyama kisses my temple once again before letting go, "Love you, don't forget to have fun."

My face turned a darker shade of red as I kissed  Kageyama's cheek in return, "Bye Kageyama. Remember not to stay up to late!"

When I finally arrived at my childhood home, I felt a weight lift off my chest yet another one was added. When I knocked on the door, I heard feet running towards the door. When the door was opened I was greeted with  Natsu's smiling cheeks and rosy cheeks.

"Natsu, who is it?" I heard my mother's voice call out from the living room. I heard boring nothing from my step-Father which was good, he must be out drinking.

"It's Shoyou!" Natsu pulled me into the house, barely giving mr any time for me to take off my shoes while she pulled me into the living room where I was face to face with my mother.

"Hey mother... Sorry if I can invited and so suddenly..." I fidgeted, looking down at my socked feet.

"Shoyou, you're always welcome here. I'm so happy that took time out of your busy schedule to come and vist us!" My mom pulled me into a bone-crushing hug, "Have you gotten yourself a girlfriend while you were away?"

"Umm not exactly... I did find someone I like but he's a male... His name is Kageyama..." I closed my eyes, waiting for my mom to yell at me about having a boyfriend instead of a girlfriend, but it never came.

"Ha! You owe me fifteen bucks mom!" Natsu yelled, jumping up into the air.

"What!?! You actually bet on my sexuality?" I screamed. To be honest I had a guy gut feeling that they already knew, I just never had the heart to tell them. I guess I was worried about nothing.

A couple of hourd later while the three of us just caught up and during that time my mother excused herself to go to the store so that she could just get a few things to make my favourite dinner, and of course with my bad luck, our step-father came home.

"Oi! Runt! Why are you in my house? Did they kick you out of collage for being to stupid?" My step-father stepped closer and sneered, and then yelled at me when I didn't answer him, "Answer me you piece of crap!"

I realized my mistake of not answering him when he pushe's me down and kicked me in the waist, right where my deepest cuts were. I refused to let my tears fall because I needed to be strong for Natsu like all those years ago, "I-If you keep abusing Natsu and I, I'll call the cops on you!"

He just looked at me darkly before laughing. His voice full of malice, "You? You stupid runt, when will you understand, no one will believe you!"

He was right, he knew where to hit us where no one will or would see the bruise, he knew that we were to scared to go to the police. Natsu and I were to weak. He knew perfectly well what to do and how to do it. We were on our own.

When mother came homr, I felt sore. I should of never came home but mother and Natsu needed me and I wanted to come back home. Even if I wanted to back to Kageyama's arms, I was already here and I couldn't chicken out now.

"Hinata, honey what's wrong?" My mother looked at me when I walked into the kitchen, so silently that it was almost as if I just appeared out of thin air, "Has collage not been working out for you?"

I shook my head as I tried to gather up the courage to tell her that our step-father, her own husband was abusing us, "No, collage is going just fine..." I lowered my voice so that he couldn't hear us talking from the other room, "He abuses us... Mom, he abuses Natsu and I..."

My mother turned to me, her eyes wide as saucers, "Why didn't you tell me? Why didn't you tell the police? How long has this been going on for?"

"Seven years I think... We never told you because he threatened us and we couldn't tell the police because he said that he wouldn't believe us..." I whimpered, close to tears. It felt off telling my mother about this.

"Hinata... It's okay..." Mother hugged me and held me close to herself, her chin resting on my shoulder, "I don't want you to drive back to collage tonight considering it's already late, but tomorrow morning you go straight to the police office. Bring Natsu with you."

"Thank you for believing me..." I hugged her quickly in return before letting go of her, "Love you..."

"I love you to Hinata... Thank you for telling me and trusting me." She kissed my forehead before turning back to what ever she was doing.
