It was a very cold December night. The wind howled. What everyone wanted was warmth.

Everyone was having fun. Children making snowmen as one of them started even more fun by throwing a snowball. You could see through the iced covered window a family sat by the fire enjoying their time together.

Behind all those laughter and joy, YN was on her bed, crying. A loud knock on her locked door made her heart pound faster. She shut her eyes after a voice of an angry lady was heard, "Why won't you come out, YN? Open the goddamn door!"

"No" she whispered really softly. More like a sigh.

Her so called mom was abusive. The knock and anger stopped. YN raised her head, "What do you want, 'mom'?" she said through the door

"Open the door first, YN. Then I'll explain" she said softly. YN knew there was going to be a 'surprise' for her.

But then her cold hand grabbed the door handle, one turning the key. YN opened it and her so called mom slapped her

She was used to it. Her red cheek was wet; crying

"I want you to get out of my house" her mom said

YN wasn't scared but instead, "Yeah fucking finally" she grabbed her bag that had her band tees, two pairs of jeans and some snacks (she had planned about running away)

She even took her Green Day poster that was on her wall; can't last a day without it

And finally her eyes met her 'mom''s

YN oved her actually. Unfortunately she didn't feel the same.

"Stop looking at me! Bye, whore. I regret giving birth to you. You're a failure and I don't wanna consider you as my daughter" she yelled

YN could only chuckle, "Failure? Hahah. Just like your ex-husband or should I say my dad's condom and the abortion you tried to did when you eventually had me. I am a failure" and she left

...

She went outside her house and walked away. The cold air even hit through her coat. She was happy she could leave yet sad to know the fact she didn't know where to go.

Slowly, she started crying and wiped the tears away. "Who should I contact?"

She looked through her phone. Tommy was her dad's name. But her teeth crackling and hand shaking made her press the name Tyler

"Shit" she mumbled

But she didn't care. Tyler was a very nice person anyways. He was her best boy friend.

"Hello, YN?" Tyler greeted through the phone

Yn tried as hard as she could not to cry, "Yeah, Tyler. Hi uhm uh..'

"It's 9 and what's going on?" he asked sounding concerned

YN sighed, "Tyler, can I go to your house? I'll explain later okay"

"Yeah sure. You can. Come whenever you want. By the way, my parents are out till five days before Christmas Eve"

"Alright Tyler. Thanks"

Her cold body made the way to knock Tyler's door and a boy with yellow hoodie opened it.

"Hey, YN" Tyler greeted

YN sighed then smiled, "Tyler hey" and they hugged

"YN come in please. Oh my you must be so cold. Here lemme-" Tyler handed her a hand and he brought her bag in his house.

.........

Tyler was making hot chocolate untill he heard sobbing. His head turned and eyes to YN.

His warm arms wrapped YN. "Don't cry, YN. Tell me what happened" he said

YN position herself in a comfier way to sit on the couch. She wiped another tear and sobbed once more. Tyler put his hand on her back, rubbing her back to comfort his sad friend

"My mom kicked me out. I was actually glad I don't have to live with her anymore but I don't know where to live and I have no idea where my dad is now" she explained

Tyler's lips frowned. "YN, you can stay here for a while okay? While you stay here, we'll contact your dad"

YN nodded, "Good idea. Thanks Tyler"

Tyler smiled, "No problem. Anything for my best friend. I dont want to see you sad. Wait here" and he rushed to the kitchen, bringing a mug of hot chocolate

"Thank you Tyler. I cant re pay your kindness" she said as she took a sip

Tyler only nodded and he went to his room. He was searching for something. He got back to the living room and showed YN what he brought

"Ice skates? We're going ice skating?" YN was very happy

"Mhmm" Tyler raised his eyebrow

"Whose blade's that?"

"My mom's. Come on YN. Finish that drink and we'll skate. It's one of my ways to cheer you up"

YN got up, put the mug on the coffe table ans went straight to Tyler to give a warm embrace.

"You're the best"

..........

They made their way to the rink (wait is it what it's called? Idk)
They saw people having fun. A kid just fell and a boy laughed at him then lent him a hand. YN chuckled at that.

She sat on a bench to tie the ice skates laces but then

"YN, let me tie them" he insisted

As Tyler tied them YN couldn't stop giggling. "Ahh this will be fun"

After their shoes were all ready and tight, Tyler held her hand, leading her to the rink. "You know how to ice skate right?" he asked

YN gulped at this, "Yeah I know but I'm not that good" her ashen face went red

Tyler brushed her hair and looked at her, "Don't worry, I'll hold your hands if you want"
And they held hands again

YN was moving slowly while Tyler patiently always beside her

It got even slippery, YN fell. "YN!"

Tyler was about to catch her but he didn't make it. YN was sat on the ice, laughing. "Don't worry I'm fine"

Tyler lent his hand and they skate again. "The moon is very beautiful" YN said

Her words made Tyler looked up to see the bright moon. "Just like your eyes" Tyler said being cheesy

YN chuckled and glared at Tyler, "Don't do it or-"

"CAUSE IT'S NINE IN THE AFTERNOON. YOUR EYES ARE THE SIZE OF THE MOON" Tyler sang

YN shook her head at Tyler's reaction. They both looked at each other looking dumb and giggled at that.

They enjoyed the rest of their night
