Pain. It surged through her veins like a wild fire; spreading to each and every corner of her body. It would heat up, die down, and ignite into an even bigger flame. Everything single cell in her body was fighting to pursue on, but the poison continued to flow through her system.
"Hickory, dickory, dock. The mouse ran up the clock."
Karlie sucked in a deep breath as Jacks voice floated through the room. To say she was scared was an understatement. Her heart was pounding and by now she was sure she had lost feeling in her legs. The fire that seemed to burn inside of her continued to rage on.
"The clock struck twelve, the mouse ran down."
She was now strapped to a chair. Jack had already flashed some of the things he planned to torture her with. He would show the objects right near her eye, close enough that it was blurry when she tried to get a good look at it.
"Hickory, dickory, dock."
Karlie flinched when she felt his hand brush away the hair by her ear as he leaned in.
"Tick tock."
She pulled at the straps that wrapped around her wrists. They weren't made of silver which was a relief, but she still couldn't get out of them no matter how hard she tried.
Karlie had been in the chair for a while now and Jack continued to whisper that taunt in her ear ever now and then, the number changing every time. She couldn't understand it though, when he started the taunt it he said the clock struck twenty four, which made no sense unless you're talking about a twenty four hour clock.
Her mind drifted to Jared, who's howls had died down over time. It was a relief but it also made her wonder why he had stopped. Had he stopped looking for her? Or was he making a plan of some sort? He couldn't come, if he did it would defeat the purpose of her coming here in the first place.
"Stop it, Jack. You're annoying me," she muttered as his words continued to echo through her ears, although she wasn't sure if it was because he was still saying it or if it was an effect of the poison that was in her body.
Black blood still oozed out of her shoulder which by now had scars covering it. All of her smooth skin on her shoulder was now a reminder of all that had happened to her, from her being turned, to being marked, to being stabbed with a poison dagger.
"Poor, Karlie. It seems as if the poison is leaving its side effects. It's only a matter of time."
"You won't get away with this."
"I already have, my forces have been gathered together and are on their way over to Jared's and Jeremiah's pack. It's too late."
"It's never too late to turn the tables." Karlie couldn't help but become worried. She had no way of telling them, unless she mind linked Jared, but she had never tried that. It couldn't be too hard, right?
Closing her eyes she focused on the thought of the Jared, every feature and emotion of his coming into her mind. She could feel his pain through her mark.
Jared...Jared can you hear me?
There was no answer and she almost stopped in defeat, but she continued to try.
Jared, say something.
She imagined she was entering his mind, placing all of her words inside his brain where he could see and hear them.
Jared-
Karlie?
Karlie had to hold back a flinched as his voice entered her mind. She mentally sighed in relief.
