Karlie watched as Jared stared at her in confusion, his eyes flickering between their normal shade to pitch black.
"What...no it can't be him. He's long gone-"
"Maybe he's not, just think about it," Karlie said, rubbing her temples in hopes that it would draw some sort of energy inside of her. "You attacked him after you freaked out for no good reason-"
"I had good reason, he hurt you. No one is allowed to do that." She shook her head, ignoring the comment.
"You lost control, went after him and bit him. I don't know the whole process on how you become a werewolf but whatever happened to me must have happened to him before he even had a chance of leaving the country."
"That is possible, but his appearances aren't random. He has them planned out which means he has mastered changing in and out of his wolf form. For someone with no guidance or help that would be extremely hard. Not the turning into your wolf, but returning back to your human state." Jared stood up from the bed and Karlie watched as he walked towards the window. His eyes moved gracefully over the backyard which had a pool and a well trimmed garden.
"Back at your house you mentioned rogues. Is it possible that he's met up with one of the rogue packs?"
"It is possible, but I would have smelled the rogues on him. Their scent is unforgettable, it masks any trace of whatever pack they might have used to belong to." Karlie crawled out of the bed, keeping the blankets wrapped firmly around her. She didn't want him to see her wearing her tank top and pyjama shorts.
"You could have missed the scent, you were probably thinking about a lot of things when you went after him," Karlie remarked.
"No, I was only thinking about one thing." She raised an eyebrow and even though he wasn't looking at her she could tell he knew what her facial expression was. "I was thinking about you."
Karlie knew she shouldn't be taken aback by the statement, not after all the things he had done, but she was still somewhat surprised. What shocked her even more was her need to defend Jack.
"You shouldn't worry about me or about Jack. If he really wanted to hurt me he would have taken me when he broke through the window."
"Is that really what you think? The only reason he didn't hurt you or take you was because there was another Alpha in the room with you. Not many dare challenge an Alpha," he huffed, his attention turning away from the window towards her. "He doesn't even know how angry I am and how much I am going to enjoy ripping his throat out with my bare hands."
Karlie shook her head while scoffing at his proclamations. "You're not going to be doing any of that, Jack's a good person."
"And you would know how?"
"I dated him-" She was cut off with her body being slammed against the wall. "What the hell Jared, get your hands off me."
"No, he is not a good man. In fact, when I see him the last thing he is going to feel is terror and he will know that I won."
"Get your hands off me. You will not hurt Jack, do you understand me?"
Jared's eyes met her and she saw that his pupils had turned pitch black again.
"I will do whatever I feel is necessary, no matter what you say or try and make me do," he growled.
"Get out," she whispered as her hands clutched the blanket with her shaking fingers.
"No, you're not going to be left in a room by yourself until we have found Jack." Karlie could tell he was losing control. She remembered him telling her that he wasn't himself when he got angry. It was his possessive wolf.
