It wasn't the the loud bang of the gun that made her scared. It was the silence that followed. Not a noise came from her mouth, it was as if all the knowledge that was lodge into her brain had been snatched away.

She watched as Jack sprang up, his eyes glued on her. Never had she heard such a malicious laugh, never had seen been more angry in her life. It was worse then all the other times she felt full of rage, this soared through her veins faster then anything known.

Her knees gave out as she collapsed to the ground, sobs tearing through her throat. The ground vibrated underneath her until feet came into view from underneath her bowed head.

"It's too bad that that had to happen. I liked your father, he was a nice man. I saw myself in him," Jack concluded to himself.

"Don't ever compare yourself to him, you coward. He was twice the man you are, if that's what you can even call yourself."

"Don't test me." The familiar cold metal of the gun was back on her head. "You saw what happened to him, let that be a reminder of what's going happen to your friends after I pull the trigger."

His laughed echoed all around her like a chant repeating the same words.

"Then do it."

No response.

"What are you waiting for, Jack? I said do it!" At this point her voice was screaming, tears slipping down her pale cheeks.

"I'm savouring the moment," he hastily replied.

"That's going to be the reason why you lose."

Before he could say anything she flung her arms up, her hands grabbing onto his wrists. He was so shocked by the action that the gun fell from his hand, landing on the grass that was coated in her own tears.

Karlie removed her hands his wrists and wrapped them around his throat. Her knuckles turned white as her grip tightened so much that his air way was completely constricted.

"Now you know what it feels like. How it feels to be robbed of the oxygen that keeps your poisoned heart beating."

Even thought her hands were locked around his throat he didn't seem to be struggling, or reacting in the way someone would when being choked. Instead he was simply smiling and she could feel a chuckle rumbling in his throat.

"Oh Karlie." Her eyes widened. "You're such a fool. You forget my powers."

Something warm spread through her chest and it suddenly felt as if she couldn't breathe. Looking down she stared in horror as she saw what had happened.

A silver pole with the circumference of a Canadian Toonie protruded from her chest, blood oozing from between the metal and her open flesh. Pain hadn't registered through her nerves due the amount of adrenaline flowing through her. It was probably what was keeping her from fainting. The smell of her burning flesh made its way up to her nose causing her to gag slightly at the mixture of blood and burning skin. She felt her heart rate pick up at the sight of what was happening.

She had lost...she was going to die. It was going to happen either way with it poison inside of her, but it had been officially written in stone now.

A growl tore through the air, so loud that some of the windows of the academy shattered, raining to ground below.

"You lost, Karlie. I told you you can change prophecies," he snarled.

"You're wrong," she whispered as a light headed feeling took a hold over her body. "I'm not dead yet, but you will be soon."
