Karlie stared at the wolf, hypnotized by its rarity and beauty. Something that one wouldn't think if they encountered a mighty beast like a this. She tried to tear her gaze away from the wolf's bright, grey eyes that bore down on hers, but her attempts proved no avail. Her feet longed to move from the spot they were frozen in but they wouldn't budge. There was no fear in her heart, no worry, no nothing. She was caught in an entrancement and thoughts wouldn't connect, as if her brain had detached itself from her spinal cord. It was when the wolf stepped forward. That was when she was snapped back into reality.
Karlie's feet could move again and they did. They stumbled away from the creature standing in the front entrance and took her to the back of the house. She didn't dare look back knowing that would only slow her down. Her feet were moving so fast, adrenaline kicking in and carrying her faster to the back door. She fumbled with the key in her hand, her hands shaking as she tried to push it into the lock. Rapid footsteps could be heard, the sound coming nearer and nearer as her hands continued to tremble, preventing her from successfully unlocking the door. She finally managed to get it in, immediately turning her wrist as quickly as she could.
The door opened just as the wolf came into view. Karlie slammed it shut before the creature could make its move. A ragged breath escaped her mouth as she leaned against the wall, the wolf pacing right outside the door as it stared her down. She took this moment to actually look at the wolf.
The first thing that stood out was the eyes. They were grey and dull, but had a glint in them that made everything seem viciously calm. It had a white and grey flank, the fur shining in the sun as it glared at her through the window that came from the floor up to the roof. It's whole body was almost half of the window which made her back up even more. This wolf could easily break through the window and get to her, but would it?
"KARLIE!?" A familiar voice could be heard outside. Karlie ran away from her position on the wall and sprinted to the front door where she saw Teah peeking through the window. She opened the door quickly, grabbing the females arm as she dragged her in.
"You're lucky I was the best runner back at my old high school. You should've seen what happened-"
"Teah, you shouldn't have come. A wolf tried to attack me." Karlie cut off Teah while pulling her to the back door. "See..."
She pointed at the window expecting to see the enormous animal but instead she saw a clear window, no dark shadow looming inside her house.
"Yeah, a wolf eh. Anyways, after you left Jared got all in Carlos's face and it looked like it was about to go down but all he did was whisper something and then he ran away. Carlos looked shocked for a moment but then regained his normal smirk and walked away. I didn't even bother asking him what he said but I imagine that he will want to talk to you." Teah said, crossing her arms across her chest. "I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't fight though."
A small smile came onto Karlie's face at Teah's sadness only because it looked like Teah wanted to see her brother beaten up by someone other than herself. She shook her head, remembering the thought in mind.
"There was a wolf there, I swear. It tried to come after me, no joke." The more Karlie thought about it the more she dismissed the thought, it seeming irrational due to the fact that it was a wild creature. "Never mind, it's not a big deal."
"Are you hallucinating or something? A wolf tried to get after you. Yeah right, that's like saying penguins can fly. So, to get Carlos back I thought we could put his dip his underwear in water and than put it in the freezer." Teah said evilly, a mischievous grin similar to her brothers on her face. Karlie was trying to dismiss the wolf as easily as her friend did but the shiny eyes that belonged to the creature made shivers run through her spine.
