"Nora? Nora, come on. Talk to me. I don't know what I did. Please."

With a heavy heart, Nora continued to tap away at her laptop and sip her steaming cappuccino, fresh from the Keurig. The events of the night before were clear as day in her mind. She remembered having to call her driver to collect her with her car because Oliver was no where to be found with the keys and neither of them were sober enough to drive. She remembered crying herself to sleep, not because her boyfriend took drugs but because she hated herself for not taking them with him. She hated him for making her feel that way.

She remembered hearing Oliver stumble in after sunrise, not caring how much noise he made, and falling onto their bed with his shoes still on. She watched him as he quickly passed out, not knowing whether to be mad at him or mad at herself. She only slept three hours that night. Unfortunately, Oliver got up at around the same time as she did to go to work and she knew she wouldn't be able to ignore him The bags under his eyes were obvious and she was pretty sure he was still high.

"Nor, please tell me what's wrong."

She sighed and stood up to kiss him. "Nothing."

  "Are you sure?"

  "No."

  "Nora.."

"Go before you're late for work."

He sighed and grabbed his briefcase before planting a kiss on her head. She flinched at his touch, something that didn't go unnoticed by him.

"I...I can stay. We can go out or something. I'll just tell my dad."

He thought dinner was the solution to their problems? It took everything in Nora  to stop herself from laughing. He may have been an adult but his brain worked like a child's. "Don't stay for me. Just... go."

"It's no prob-"

"Just go!"

An awkward silence followed. Oliver's hand reached out to the back of his neck. He stood awkwardly, not knowing whether to stay or go. "Okay..."

She pursed her lips and turned to face her laptop.

"It's fine," He continued, even though Nora didn't apologise to him. "My father probably needs me, anyway. I shouldn't be so impulsive."

"You're not impulsive," Nora sighed, finally giving in. He was like a hurt puppy.

Oliver nodded awkwardly at her before walking away. She didn't know what to say or do so she remained silent. He stopped at the door and turned around.

  "Love you, Nor."

She weakly smiled at him. "Me too."

She returned back to her office and continued to study. Unlike Oliver, she actually had to study. He always aced his online assignments and his exams with no study. He knew all the ins and outs of finance, economics and business. After high school, when he announced his plans to do the online courses and start an internship with his father, she told him she was happy for him. But, honestly? She felt jealous of the nepotism. It wasn't fair.
